Writing

Can write an article for a student website using linking expressions.

Sample answer
Doctor Tom
My cousin Tom would make a wonderful doctor! He’s still at school at the moment, and he hasn’t decided what he wants to
do, but I really hope that he chooses to study medicine and become a doctor.
Tom has got everything you need to be a doctor. He’s very intelligent, so if people came to him with unusual symptoms, he
would be able to use his knowledge and decide how to treat them. He’s also calm, so he wouldn’t panic if people were
seriously ill, and he would be good at reassuring patients if they were frightened. Tom also has personal qualities which
allow him to get on well with everyone. He’s very friendly and outgoing, so his patients would like him. Most importantly, he
really cares about people and wants to help them. This is what being a doctor is all about!
Tom definitely gets my vote for the perfect doctor. I’m going to keep trying to persuade him that he should choose this career
path when he leaves school. Fingers crossed!
