This workbook, intended for 1st year, summer clinical, Al-Riyada College nursing students, presents
Fundamentals of Nursing objectives in the context of modern student nursing practice.
When completed, it provides the nursing student with ready, self-directed information, which is
needed to prepare her for exams and to help her organize clinical approaches to the client in the
Fundamental setting.
This Fundamentals of Nursing workbook, tries to ensure that the chosen objectives (cognitive,
psychomotor, affective) reflect the needs and realities of day-to-day nursing student practices.
This workbook is to be used in conjunction with the Handbook of Clinical Assessment that the student
will use during the Fundamentals of Nursing rotation.

a moist cough and runny nose. Within the pass few hours the baby has become febrile, listless, and
has audible rhonchi. The baby has slight cyanosis, flaring nostrils and chest retractions. Upon arrival,
the baby’s vital signs are BP: 74/42mmhg; Pulse 110/min; Respirations 34/min and shallow: and
Temperature 39.5C.And the baby becomes unresponsive.
