Act 1
What did you discover about yourself using this questionnaire? What aspects are you strong in?
What Aspects do you need to improve in?
From the module on Meta cognition, I realize that meta cognition can
be defined as "thinking about thinking," but it also includes the ability
to regulate one's thoughts, or the power to change them. It goes
beyond simple knowledge of thinking processes to include the ability
to change ideas and behaviors. Explicitly teaching learners
metacognition skills has been found to boost student achievement.
And it is the ability to think about and control one's own thinking.
Metacognitive practices can help students perform better in school.
As a result, it's a good, evidence-based intervention target.
Metacognition is the ability to be aware of and control one's own
thoughts.
Metacognition can be seen in the following situations:
• Awareness that you have difficulty remembering people's names in
social situations
• Reminding yourself that you should try to remember the name of a
person you just met
• Realizing that you know an answer to a question but simply can't
recall it at the moment
• Realizing that you should review an article you read last week
because you have forgotten many of the key points
• Realizing that there is something wrong with your solution to a
problem. At some point in their lives, everyone will have these kinds
of mental experiences. When you consider how critical metacognition
is to effective learning, it may not seem like a particularly vital skill.
