I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
a. Distinguish significant characteristics of words that are classified as Homonyms,
Homophones and Homographs used in the sentences given.
b. Construe or interpret the meaning of frequently confused homo-words using the
context given by the sample sentences.
c. Use homo-words appropriately in sentence construction.

Topic: Homo-phonetic and semantic language codes (Homonyms, Homophones and


Homographs)

Reference: English Learner’s Material 7, Internet

Materials: Visual Aids (Cartolina), Slide Presentation (Powerpoint), Worksheet,


Cardboard with stick and Chalk and Board

Homonyms: words that are the same in
spelling and pronunciation but differ in
meaning. (e.g scale- fish covering scale-
measure).

Homographs – words that are spelled
Words that have the same spelling and it could
similarly but differs in pronunciation and
have the same sound but different in meaning.

sounds, they are known as "heteronyms."
