REFLECT:
1. Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective
board displays. Elaborate on why each skill/s is needed.
These are the five skills that a teacher should have:
Creativity- instructional content can be dry and boring in a classroom setting. The
teacher should be creative.
Visual Skills- teachers are somewhat like interior designers; teachers must be able
to visualize the presentation and impact they want to create.
Communication- teachers should know the proper words combined with the
visual content. Teacher must be a good communicator.
Minimalistic Views- teachers should know they must minimize content to basic
building block they want to teach. The display should be easy to understand, for
the students and the rest of the viewers.
2. Which of the skills you named in #1 do you already have? Recall your past experiences
in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?
I believe I have a bit of creativity. I have done display board before with the help
of my classmates. I believe that display boards will attract students if it has
colorful background. I also have visual skills since I wanted to get their attention
with the display I am going to make.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on how you
can improve on or acquire these skills.
I think, more on minimalistic view. Surfing the net could be a big help since
internet offers a wide variety of techniques that will help me improve.
