 Mixer drum / pot
 Miscellaneous cleaning and roughness preparation tools
 Curing Arrangement

5. PROCEDURE
The following is the construction sequence

5.1 MATERIALS

5.1.1 Grouting Material / Cementitious Non shrink grout -

 Storage of grouting material shall be done in storage area , which is dry and away from moisture.

5.1.2 Water -
 Water used for mixing and curing shall be clean and free from deleterious materials confirming to
IS: 456.

5.2 GROUTING WORK

5.2.1 Surface Preparation -

 The substrate surface shall be clean properly prior to pouring of grout material.
 All laitance, dirt and loose material shall be removed by wire brushing or chipping.
 The surface shall be free from any oil, grease or scale.
 Several hours (2 - 4 hours) prior to placing, the concrete substrates shall be saturated with
fresh water and excess water shall be removed immediate before poring.

5.2.2 Mixing and placing -

 Necessary formwork shall be used around the portion to be grouted and precaution to be
taken for any leakage.
 Mixing of grouting material shall be done by skilled manpower.
 For larger quantities (50 Kg and above), mechanically powered grout mixer shall be used for
mixing purpose. For lesser quantity, manual mix may be allowed with proper supervision during
mixing.
 The mixing ratio of grout and water shall be as recommended by the manufacturer.
 Consistency of grout mix : The quantity of clean water required to be added to each bag grout to
achieve the desired consistency is given below -

For Pourable:
Water : Powder = 0.16 to 0.17 by weight ( 4.0 liters to 4.25 liters water per bag )

For Flowable:
Water : Powder = 0.17 to 0.18 by weight ( 4.25 liters to 4.5 liters water per bag).
