Student Name (in Arabic)

Student I.D.
FULL WAVE RECTIFIER
The purpose of The Experiment:
Study the construction of full wave rectifier. Determine the
relation between the average value and the peak value. Study the
effect of smoothing capacitor on the output voltage. Evaluate the
ripple voltage, ripple factor and ripple frequency.
Apparatus and Components:
1. Bread Board.
2. Two channels Oscilloscope .
3. Multi-meter.
4. Resistor of 330 Ω.
5. 4Si diode 1N4007.
6. Transformer.
7. 10µF capacitor.
8. 100µF capacitor.
Procedures of the experiment:
1. Connect the circuit as shown in the following figure:

1N4007

2. Adjust the output of the transformer at 6V and measure Vin

by the voltmeter ( rms value) and record it as:
Vin (rms)=………….

3. Connect the input voltage Vin on the oscilloscope and

measure both the peak and the peak to peak values of Vin.
Vp(in)=……………….
Vp-p(in)=……………
4. Connect the output voltage of the full wave rectifier on the
oscilloscope and measure the peak value Vp(out).
Vp(out)= …………..
5. Measure the average value of the full wave rectifier by using
a dc voltmeter Vavg.
Case 1: Without smoothing capacitor C
Vavg = …………….
Case 2: With smoothing capacitor C
a) C=10µF
Vavg =……………..
b) C=100µF
Vavg =……………
6. Measure the ripple voltage as in the following:
Case1: without smoothing capacitor C
Vripple= ………….
Case2: with a smoothing capacitor C
a) C=10µF Vripple = ……………..
b) C=100µF Vripple=………………
7. Measure and record the ripple frequency and ripple factor :
Fripple = ……………. r= ………….
8. Sketch the input and output waveforms as they appear on the
oscilloscope as the following:
a) The input voltage of the full-wave rectifier.
b) The output voltage of the half wave rectifier without
capacitor:

c) The output voltage with smoothing capacitor 10µF.

d) The output voltage with smoothing capacitor 100µF.
