Present simple tense.

FORM: -Infinitive verb with plural pronouns (I\You\We\They)


I go to work every day.
They work for well-known Egyptian company.
For Singular pronouns (He\She\It) add (s-es-ies):
-

1- Add (s) to verbs with (he\she\it)


She sleeps early.
He lives in Cairo.
2- Add (es) if the verb ends with (o-ch-sh-ss-x)
He goes to school.
The dog catches a stick.
3- Add (ies) if the verb ends with a consonant that's followed by
a (y).
Fly >flies ('y' is replaced with 'ies')
Cry > cries
4- Add 's' if the verb ends with a vowel followed by a (y).
Play > plays
pray > prays

Negative form:
Do\Does are the helping verbs used for present simple,
Form negatives by adding 'not' to verb to do.
She doesn't sleep early.
Jews don't eat shrimp.

Question forms:
yes\no question:
helping verb+ subject + verb +…?
Do you play sports?
Does he work for you?
WH-questions: Wh-word+ helping verb+ subject+ verb+….?

Usage:
1- Habits-Routines-Repeated actions. ‫للتعبير عن العادات او االحداث‬
‫المتكرره او الروتين اليومي‬
I go swimming every weekend.
She never wears makeup.
2- Facts. ‫حقائق مطلقه‬
the sun rises in the morning.
Doctors help ill people.
3- Permanent\long situations. ‫المواقف الدائمه‬
I love coffee.
He lives in Mosco.
4- Future timetable -‫قطارات‬-‫جدول مواعيد رسميه في المستقبل (طائرات‬
)‫الخ‬
The film starts at 9:30 tomorrow.
The exam takes place on July 20th.
The plane leaves the airport at 8:00 pm and arrives in Paris at
1:00 Am.

NOTE: present simple can be used to express opinions and


feelings. (believe-forget-hate-like-understand-know-see-want)
I believe in god.
I hate school.
I like you.

Things which are always true: Things which are happening at the
moment of speaking:
Water boils at 100 degrees.

Situations which are slowly changing:
