ABSTRACT
Exam are integral part of education system. Without proper assessment of trainee, student a
trainer or educator can’t possibly evaluate them. They are core of merit based classification an
eligibility based classification. We can’t possibly imagine an education system without an
assessment scheme. Thus an unbiased is required assessment is a need for robust education
framework.
Education nowadays is not persisted within bounds of School, College or Universities.
Development of AI has equally imparted its effect in education sector. There has been serious
developments in field of education within past 2-3 years. The COVID-19 pandemic itself
created an opportunity for various technologies to rise to help people in a unique way.
Online Proctoring System (OPS) are in great demand due extreme surge of pandemic . Being
the best possible way of reaching out various examiners and also maintaining the sanctity of
examination.
There are plenty of software services available for the same, but the sensitive data it collects
from examinees is a serious issue among student committee. Different type of facial schemes
are used in training of ML models to reach out the optimum efficiency.
Some software like HONORLOCK and PROTORIA based of recording based assessment.
They use reinforcement learning to identify “cheating” like they are being fed with pre-recorded
videos.
Similarly METTL a widely used online proctoring tool further offers protection from mirroring.
Now a days a new vulnerability has aroused due to virtualization, any person can create a
sandbox environment on a pc which is completely unaware of external services that are running
on system, hence causing the BYPASS from proctoring environment which means person to
run any service despite being active proctor security.
Our main objective in this Project is to develop a state of Art proctoring system powered by AI
with active support for malicious software detection tool. This would surely be a helpful aspect
in maintain a healthy environment for online assessments.

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
1.1 Ideation
Within last year, we have see a rapid advancement in online education. Suddenly student and
learners are moving towards online courses, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) and
some other similar platforms. This recent surge has been mainly due to COVID outbreak and
its aftereffects, forcing the learners community to shift their bias from offline coaching classes
to online MOOCS. All this has subsequently helped students to find new opportunities to
explore and find new possibilities to persue their career and improve themselves.
As all the educational institutes has been closed within this period , this created a sudden urge
to find an optimal alternate to deliver education in an efficient manner as it was delivered
previously in educational institutes. An education institution can’t work properly without an
effective Assessment System.
To overcome this problem in tough times of pandemic people started developing various
proctoring system , web based portal , software modules etc.
Typically these systems are based on AIPS – Artificial Intelligence Based Proctoring System.
It keeps check on all examinees , when they are giving exam through online mode whether at
there home or any private space. It help to create a ease for student by making it feasible for
them to give exam from anywhere .
Each person has his or her own level of understanding , learning and retention qualities which
makes it quite obvious for students prone to cheat in examination. This urge of getting good
scores make them fall into cheating. Thus they need to be proctored simulaneously . Such a
level of efficacy can only be obtained through machine and use of Artificial Intelligence.
Although we already have various type of proctor softwares powered by Artificial Intelligence,
but due to emergence of some new bugs they might fail in caching the culprit or cheater in
exam.
Thus we propose a State of Art AI powered Proctoring system which will help to overcome
these bugs.

1.2 Brief
We wish to create an Automated AI proctor System. This system can support both app based
client i.e. Android, iOS, Windows as well as browser based interface. It will contain 2
subsequent interfaces one for the Student or Examinee entity and other for the Examiner or
Invigilator entity.
The Student framework will be based on active screen share with voice support. Extra support
for malicious software detection will be installed with this service to avoid any sandbox ,
virtual environment. It can effectively stop bypassing of blocked resources within test period
on device.
The Invigilator end will monitor over reading received based on live feed which is being
served to server directly enabling him to stop any malicious practice perused within exam
with active support of direct blockage and automated warning system which will show shared
video stream of suspected candidate.

CHAPTER 2
Literature Review
2.1 A Systematic Review on AI-based Proctoring Systems: Past, Present and
Future
-Aditya Nigham, Rhitvik Pasricha, Tarishi Singh and Prathamesh Churi
- This paper discusses the multiple systems that exist in Online Proctoring. It also covers the
main parameters to be considered while designing such a system. We have also taken into
consideration the user side technologies and emotional factors.
-In our literature review we have covered all bases in this field. This paper has a comparative
review between the AI and non-AI based proctoring systems.
-The existing research is focused more on advancing and improving the individual parameters
of Online Proctoring systems. To the best of our knowledge, there is no complete review of
the work that has been done in the field. We have used this opportunity to also identify the
trends that have appeared in the research done while developing AIPS.
-This paper explores new ways to maintain academic integrity for large enrollment, completely
online courses.
-88.95% report satisfied with their experience on software ProctorU
-Unsatisfied outlined: took too long to set up, technical difficulties
