Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership (IIGL) established under the aegis of the
Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL), New Delhi, India is the pioneer institution to create world
class public leaders and to impart one of its kind academic programs designed and conceptualized
by the stellar governing and advisory council which comprises of diplomats, bureaucrats, and vice
chancellors along with academic program endorsed and institutionalized by Universities across
India. Taking forward the illustrious legacy of the Second Prime Minister of India, Bharat Ratna,
Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri, IIGL was jointly established under the guidance and leadership of the
former Prime Minister's family. The institution thereby lives by the principles of honesty,
transparency and accountability which the Former Prime Minister lived by and envisions imparting
the same in its youth citizenry.
On August 1, 2020, India and Mexico ushered in the 70th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between the two countries. Mexico was the first country in Latin America to
establish diplomatic relations with India in 1950. Despite the vast geographical distance that
separates them, the two countries share certain commonalities. Both are democracies, diverse
societies and share similar development priorities. Over the years, Mexico and India have
developed a warm and cordial relationship. In 2007, the two countries upgraded their bilateral
relations to a “Privileged Partnership”. In 2016, during Prime Minister Hon’ble Shri. Narendra
Modi’s visit to Mexico, the two countries decided to develop a roadmap to upgrade their
relationship to a “Strategic Partnership”. The increased contact between India and Mexico also
has immense potential for enhancing academic cooperation between the two countries. The 70th
anniversary thus provides the impetus for both countries to further deepen their partnership.
On the auspicious occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between the two countries, the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Governance and
Leadership (IIGL) have decided to introduce the IIGL India-Mexico Friendship Scholarship 2020
(IIMFS-2020) as a commitment to foster closer people to people relations between two strategic
partners.
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR IIGL SCHOLARSHIP
Name of the Course: Diploma Certificate Program in International Affairs and Diplomacy

Course Description: Objective of the program is to offer students the opportunity to become agents
of change in international relations and diplomatic affairs. This diploma certificate program designed
and conceptualized up-skill students by developing an in-depth understanding of international affairs
and international diplomacy. IIGL is the only institute in India which is offering a Diploma in
International Affairs and Diplomacy which can be pursued along with your education/work and does
not require your physical presence in the classrooms because we do not believe in the concept of
restricting learners within four walls. Learning can be done from anywhere and everywhere which is
why our mission is to bring these courses at the doorstep of any individual who wishes to pursue them
and make our education truly accessible without any barriers of age, class, caste, gender, region or
religion. Students analyze contemporary international issues within their historical and cultural
contexts, producing research-based assignments, participating in webinars online, and gaining skill
training in negotiation and mediation of conflicts through optional workshops. India being the heart of
international activity in 21st Century offers students ample opportunity for enrichment and professional
growth.

Academic Research Papers under the Diploma in International Affairs and Diplomacy:
Paper I: Introduction to International Relations and Diplomacy: Concepts and Theories and their
Practical Application
Paper II: India and the World: India's Foreign Policy
Paper III: International Organizations and Global Governance
Paper IV: Emerging Trends in International Affairs: International Law, Human Rights, Sustainable
Development and Economic Integration
Benefits: This academic program enhances additional knowledge bandwidth and prepares students
not only for careers in the foreign arena, in intergovernmental organizations, in international
businesses but also in fields such as journalism, non-governmental organizations, not for profit
foundations, foreign policy think tanks and academic research. The program combines problem
solving, structural analysis, project development and management with a comprehensive theoretical
and critical examination of the political, cultural, legal, and socioeconomic practices that make up our
increasingly interdependent and complex world. The political and economic problems central to foreign
relations today invariably transcend national boundaries, the international agenda encompasses
technological, religious, ethno-linguistic, and humanitarian concerns, as well as the more traditional
area of diplomatic activity. Drawing from multiple fields including finance, law, history, philosophy, and
theology, this program is decidedly interdisciplinary.

 Programs contain subject based assignments and domain related webinars and optional
workshops.
 The student gets an in-depth
depth knowledge in the particular field to prepare them for entry level
employment.
 The specialized knowledge and skills gained during the program equips students secure
internships and various allied employment opportunities.
 During the course get an optional opportunity to mee
meett and interact with noted practitioners and
policy makers in the field.
Program Delivery: The program shall be completed over the course of 6 Months and divided into 4
papers. Each Paper is compulsory and submission shall be in form of an online assignment. All p papers
shall have a predefined thematic area and subject specification which allow the students to track their
learning progress throughout the duration of the program.
