▪ Lieutenant Governor of the Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha launched the Quick Response
(QR) Code-based mechanism for labelling the handmade carpets in J&K, a first-of-its-kind
in the country.
▪ With the QR-based application, customers can check and verify authenticity and other
requisite details of carpets produced in Jammu and Kashmir.
▪ He also felicitated UT’s awardees of Handicrafts & Handloom. J&K Handicrafts are
repositories of India’s creative traditions that are serving as a cultural expression.
▪ The Jammu and Kashmir government has introduced Export Incentive Scheme. Under this
scheme, incentive of 10 per cent of the total volume of GI certified Handicrafts and
Handloom products exported to any country, with maximum reimbursement up to ₹5
crore, shall be provided to eligible exporters registered with Department of Handicrafts
and Handloom.

➢ Indian inflation rate breached RBI’s comfort mark

• Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released data which indicates
that India’s benchmark inflation rate which measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI)
grew to 6.01 per cent year-on-year in January 2022. (Highest In 6 Months)
• Retail inflation was recorded at 5.66 % in December and 4.91 % in November 2021.
• Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das had mentioned previously January
2022’s consumer price index would be closer to the upper tolerance band because of
adverse base effects.

➢ Monetary Policy

▪ MPC has been exercised by the government to keep inflation in the range of
2-6%.

▪ RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das is expecting FY23 growth at 7.8% on the growth

➢ Rise in various consumer usage:

• The increase in the food basket had done because of a sharp rise in prices of oils and fats.
• Prices of oils and fats were gone up 70 per cent on year in January.
• Even the meat and fish prices have also seen a rise of 47 per cent and prices of vegetables
grew up 5.19 per cent while pulses and products heightened to 3.02 per cent.
• Apart from food and beverages, the fuel and light segment grew 9.32 per cent, clothing
and footwear went up 8.84 per cent and the housing segment rose to 3.52 per cent.
• Reserve Bank of India expected in its recently concluded monetary policy meet that
inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) would be well below its upper tolerance
level around to 4.5 per cent in the next fiscal year beginning April 2022.
• The central bank maintained its inflation projection at 5.3 per cent for the current
financial year.

Fabrics and Technical Textiles Products manufactured in India.

joint venture (JV) for manufacturing semiconductors in India.
▪ Rs 76,000 crore production-linked incentive scheme for semiconductor and display
manufacturing, to create an ecosystem of local production of semiconductor in India.
▪ Vedanta will be majority shareholder in the JV while Foxconn will hold minority share.
▪ Anil Agarwal, the non-executive Chairman of Vedanta, will be the Chairman of the JV
company.
▪ Foxconn headquarter is in Tucheng, New Taipei City, Taiwan.

responsibility to Niraj Bajaj.
