    Back To The Bible

    Part of our declaration which we do often: This is God’s Word, This is God speaking to me, I am
    who God says I am, I can do what God says I can do, I will become everything God has
    promised……I believe His Word, I receive His Word and I live by His Word….

    Understanding the power of God’s Word


    God works by His Word. He created/creates by His Word.
    Genesis chapter 1
    Psalm 33:

    ‘God work in me’


    We often pray and ask God to work in us, and then don’t give His Word the necessary time and
    priority in our lives. However, one of the primary ways God works in us is by His Word
    1 Thessalonians 2:13

    Overcoming by the Word


    His Word in us helps us overcome sin, temptation, the wicked one. Psalm 119:9,11 Psalm 17:4
    1 John 2:14

    His Word in us leads us to a fruitful prayer life. John 15:7

    God’s Word Must be Final Authority

    God holds His Word in higher esteem than His own name (reputation). Psalm 138:2

    His Word is forever established Psalm 119:89

    We must also allow His word to be final authority in our lives.

    We must live by His Word Matthew 4:4

    Faith versus feelings

    Too often we go by what we feel instead of what we believe.


    We walk by faith and not by our senses (2 Cor 5:7). Faith is based on the Word.
    We must act in line with the Word.
    Once you train yourself to think and act according to the word, your feelings will align themselves
    up to the Word.

    Living by the Word instead of prophecies

    While we do believe in the prophetic, we find too many people who are not grounding
    themselves in the Word – and instead looking for prophecy after prophecy and ordering their
    lives according to prophecies.

    God’s Word is superior to personal prophecy. Personal prophecy can be wrong and hence must
    be tested.

    God’s Word is the ultimate prophetic revelation.

    You need to know the Word to test prophecy.

    Testing teaching by the Word and the Spirit

    There are so many winds of doctrine floating around that if you are not grounded in the Word
    and walking in the Spirit, it is so easy to get carried away.

    Developing the Discipline of being in the Word

    Read and Meditate in the Word several times during the week – daily if possible.

    Meditation – Contemplation, Visualization and Confession

    Build your life on the Word


    Matthew 7 the Wise man who built his life on the rock – hearing and doing the sayings of Jesus.
