B. To Nursing Education
As a student nurse, the article provides us with the necessary information in
improving our health by teaching the mother about exclusive breastfeeding.
The breast milk contains colostrum which had been teaching us many times
how important it was to a child since it has complete nutrition to provide a
strong immune system for a child. The study also showed that they are only
33.3% able to finish the exclusive breastfeeding which is unexpected since we
always emphasize it to the mothers whenever we are in the OB ward. As a
student nurse, we need to further improvement and reading to acquire the
knowledge and skill to improve our nursing care to our mother and child
health
C. To Nursing Research
I recommend the article to my fellow student since it has a lot of information
about breastfeeding that they can use in both hospital and community duty.
However, they need further research since they use a cross-sectional study
which unable to determine the relationship between the outcome of interest
of the study, they should also do it in a 3 rd world country to compare if there
was a significant difference in the implementation and adaptation of
exclusive breastfeeding to advance civilization to developing counties.
I agree that policymakers and health care providers need to improve and
emphasize breastfeeding to mothers. Breastfeeding is important for both the
baby and child while preventing the risk for breast and ovarian cancer to the
mother it also provides nutrition to the baby which both of them wins without
paying. Even rich countries like Italy can’t implement it will how much more to
the countries like the Philippines who have a limited capability in reaching all
of the population to provide any information to the mothers. I didn’t see any
valid reason for the mothers if you are capable to do exclusive breastfeeding
for 6 months why not just put an extra effort and practice and it’s a lifelong
immunity for your baby. But of course, the research is implemented in a rich
country where people can have alternative milk for their babies. The WHO
recommends 6-month exclusive breastfeeding and by the joint effort of
health care workers hopefully, we can improve the result of future studies
about exclusive breastfeeding.
