Hello everybody!

Now it's time for you to do the task for this week, so I invite you to check the instructions below.
Remember that if you need to review a topic, you can always check the course material as many
times as you need. Keep in mind that you have to present this task during week 2.

1. Learning outcome

Unidad 1: Jobs and education

Logro específico de aprendizaje: Al finalizar la unidad, el estudiante explica su elección de carrera

para determinar sus retos utilizando gramática y vocabulario pertinentes.

2. Lesson Outcome
At the end of the lesson, you and your team perform a job interview by using have to/has to and
can/can’t.

3. Description
Step 1:

Choose the partner(s) you want to work with and get together. Decide on the roles each one
will play (an interviewer and one or two applicants) and the job offer (Human Resources
assistant, system engineer, bank clerk, etc.).

Step 2:
Think about the skills needed to be successful in that job and make a list
using have to/has to.  Remember your role in the conversation.
For example: Be sociable, be creative, be patient, be a good leader, be good with numbers, be
a good listener, be empathic, work well with people, work under pressure, have good
communicative skills, and solve problems.

24/8/22, 18:45 Week 02 - Task: Assignment - A job interview
Example:
(applicant) I have to be a good listener and have a good memory.

Or
(interviewer) The person for the job has to be proactive.

Step 3:
Make a list of questions that interviewers and applicants commonly make in a job interview.
Look at the examples. Use can / can’t / have to / has to.
Interviewer: Can you work on weekends?
Applicant: Do I have to travel?

Step 4:

Now, it’s time to make the interview using the lists in steps 2 and 3. Then, practice the

conversation.

Interviewer: student A

Applicant: student B

Step 5
Consider the following recommendations:

•    Be confident about your speaking.

•    Use correct pronunciation and intonation.

•    Use the grammar and vocabulary you have studied in the week.

•    Remember to speak naturally, don’t read your conversation.

4. Material
Grammar: modal verbs: have to /has to, can / can’t
Vocabulary: professions, job skills, adjectives to describe demanding jobs
