“Toolbox talk” (TBT) is another term for a safety meeting/ conversation that workers participate in prior to any task being
carried out. It is widely accepted as a common way of ensuring that consultation occurs between workers, and is a
practical way to raise workers’ awareness of specific problems, and safety risks present at the location of work. It helps
workers/ teams to take a proactive approach towards safety by anticipating and taking actions to correct potential unsafe
act and conditions at the beginning of work itself in order to prevent accidents. Toolbox Meetings are helpful in
effectively communicating (and verifying) the following with the participants:
