7S Frame work.

What is 7-S Model?

 The Seven-S is a framework for analyzing organizations and their effectiveness. It looks
at the seven key elements that make the organizations successful, or not:strategy;
structure; systems; style; skills; staff; and shared values.
 Consultants at McKinsey & Company developed the 7S model in the late 1970sto help
managers address the difficulties of organizational change. The model shows that
organizational immune systems and the many interconnected variables involved make
change complex, and that an effective change effort must address many of these issues
simultaneously.

7-SModel–A Systemic Approach to Improving Organizations:

 The 7-S model is a tool for managerial analysis and action that provides a structure with
which to consider a company as a whole, so that the organization's problems may be
diagnosed and a strategy may be developed and implemented.
 The 7-S diagram illustrates the multiplicity inter connectedness of elements that define an
organization's ability to change. The theory helped to change manager's thinking about
how companies could be improved. It says that it is not just a matter of devising a new
strategy and following it through. Nor is it a matter of setting up new systems and letting
them generate improvements.

WINTER-2019 GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC HIMATNAGAR

PORTABLE WOOD CUTTER Page 11 Of 25

 There is no starting point or implied hierarchy - different factors may drive the business
in any one organization.
 The7-S frame work of McKinsey is a Value Based Management(VBM) model that
describe show one can holistically and effectively organize accompany. To gather these
fact or determine the way in which a corporation operates.

Shared Values / Super Ordinate Goals-Shared

values are commonly held beliefs, mindsets, and assumptions that shape how an organization
behaves – its corporate culture. Shared values are what en gender trust. They are an inter
connecting center of the 7S s model. Values are the identity by which accompany is known
through out its business areas, what the organization stands for and what it believes in, it central
beliefs and attitudes. These values must be explicitly stated as both corporate objectives and
individual values.

Structure-
 Structure is the organizational chart and associated information that shows who reports to
whom and how tasks are both divided up and integrated. In other words, structures
describe the hierarchy of authority and accountability in an organization, the way the
organization's units relate to each other: centralized, functional divisions (top-down);
decentralized (the trend in larger organizations);matrix, network, holding, etc. These
relationships are frequently diagrammed in organizational charts. Most organizations use
some mix of structures - pyramidal, matrix or net worked ones-to accomplish their goals.

Strategy-
 Strategy is plans an organization formula test or each identified goals, and a set of
decisions and actions aimed at gaining a sustainable advantage over the competition.
Systems-
 Systems define the flow of activities involved in the daily operation of business,
including it score processes and its support systems. They refer to the

WINTER-2019 GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC HIMATNAGAR

PORTABLE WOOD CUTTER Page 12 Of 25

procedures, processes and routines that are used to manage the organization and
characterize how important work is to be done. Systems include:
 Business System
 Business Process Management System(BPMS)
 Management in formation system
 Innovation system
 Performance management system
 Financial system/capital all occasion system
 Compensation system/reward system
 Customer satisfaction monitoring system

Style-
"Style" refers to the cultural style of the organization, how key managers behavein
achieving the organization's goals, how managers collectively spend their timeand
attention, and how they use symbolic behavior. How management acts is more important
that what management says.
Staff-
 "Staff" refers to the number and types of personnel within the organization and how
companies develop employees and shape basic values.

Skills-
 "Skills" refer to the dominant distinctive capabilities and competencies of the personnel
or of the organization as a whole. The Seven Elements
 The McKinsey 7S model involves seven inter dependent fact or which are categorized as
either "hard" or "soft" elements:

Hard Elements Soft Elements

Strategy Shared

Structure Values Skills

Systems
Style

Staff

"Hard" elements are easier to define or identify and management can directly influence
them: These are strategy statements; organization charts and reporting lines; and form all
processes and IT systems.
 "Soft" elements, on the other hand, can be more difficult to describe, and are less tangible
and more influenced by culture. However, these soft elements are as important as the
hard elements if the organization is going to be successful.
 The way the model is presented in Figure 1 below depicts the interdependency of the
elements and indicate show a change in one affects all the others.

G) Industrial visit report.

 Company Name:-HimalayaIceFactory

 Basic techniques of factory: - Himalaya Ice Factory is one of the oldest industriesin
Bhavnagar. It supplies ice to almost 60% areas in Bhavnagar. It is one of thebiggestice
factory,producingabout900kgsof ice everyday.
 Equipment :-

 Ice making space(Evaporator).

 Double Cylinder compressor.

 Water Circulating Pump.

 Condenser.

 Cooling water Pond for condenser.

 Refrigerant Receiver Tank.

 Details About Visit:-

 Our batchm17ofmechanicalengineering had gone for visit at 2.00 pm. First of all we
were taken to cooling space where ice was made. it was an concrete made structure
like tank. In this tank containers filled with mineral water were placed. Around
these containers salty water was circulated by water circulating pump. The pipes
carrying refrigerant were placed inside salty water. The salty water was used for
transferring heat. The refrigerant gas used was Ammonia (NH3).

 The heat from mineral water was transferred to salty water and from there
torefrigerant.Therefrigerantcontainingheatgoestocompressor.Thecompressor
converts this refrigerant into super heated stage by
increasingitstemperature.Therefrigerantfromtheregoestocondenserwhererefrigerant
heat is taken away by cooling tower. The water used for cooling tower is stored in
pond and is reused. From condenser refrigerant goes to receiver tank placed on
ground floor. The receiver tank stores the refrigerant and gives it as per need and
cycle is repeated. The temperature of ice making tank ismaintainedat-5 C.

 Temperature of brine:- -10 C

CONCLUSION

At these practical, we learn about how to prepare the portable wood cutting machine.

Other than that we also have been teach by our lecturer how to use different tool

machine.

Besides that, our teacher always remains us to stay alert in safety while doing a work

before and after finish the practice.

Conclusion is, we want to thanks to lecturer and my friend during learning of portable

wood cutter machine However, these practical we will never ever forget because these

talents are bring us to learn new things in our studying at this college.
