Wise Men:
Narrator: God sent prophets to His people, Israel, to foretell the coming of a savior. The
world was waiting.
Narrator: Isaiah the prophet said,“Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall
call his name Immanuel.”
Narrator: And in the fullness of time God would send his son. God sent the angel Gabriel to
a young virgin named Mary.
(Gabriel): “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you! And behold, you will conceive in your
womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.”
(Mary): “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your
word.”
Narrator: And Joseph went up to Bethlehem with Mary, who was with child. And she gave
birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger,
because there was no place for them in the inn.
Silent Night
Silent night, Holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin, mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

(Narrator): And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over
their flock by night. And the angel said to them,
(Angel 1): Be not afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all
the people; for to you is born this day a savior who is Christ the Lord.
(Angel 2): And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths
and lying in a manger.
All Angels: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will!
(Shepherd): Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened.
Narrator: And they went with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a
manger.
Away in a Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head;
The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
Narrator: And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.
Narrator: And wise men from the east came to Jerusalem saying,
(Wise Man ): “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star
in the East, and have come to worship him.”
Narrator: And behold, the star came to rest over the place where the child was. And going
into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped
him.

Once in Royal David's City
Once in royal David's city stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her baby, in a manger for his bed.
Mary was that mother mild; Jesus Christ her little child.
Narrator: Even now we wait in joyful hope of our Lord's second coming.
Veni, O Sapientia,
Quae his disponis omnia;
Veni, viam prudentiae,
Ut doceas et gloriae.
