Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM

The improvement of the quality of education has been always the concern of the

government in its drive to uphold the well-being of its citizenry. The government has

undoubtedly initiated innumerable attempts to realize such goals. However, it is not in

the conclusion that the government has indeed made a considerable headway in

promoting the status of Philippine Education if our basis would be the performances of

our students and young generation today.

There is enormous spontaneous appeal in the idea that teachers should pay

closer attention to students’ learning styles: by diagnosing them, by encouraging

students to reflect on them and by designing teaching and learning interventions around

them considering the teaching approach practiced by the teachers and performed by

the students.

A further impetus to interest in learning styles is given by government policy that

aims to develop the necessary attitudes and skills for lifelong learning, particularly in

relation to learning to learn’ and personalized learning. Some learning styles theories

describe learners extending their skills and strategies, developing creativity, analytic

thinking, spontaneous thinking, reflective thinking and experimentation – key

foundations for productivity and economic growth.


The provision for quality education is mandated in the Republic Act No. 9155

under Section 2 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution which states that:

It is hereby declared the policy of the State to protect and promote the right of

all citizens to quality basic education and to make such education accessible

to all by providing all Filipino children a free and compulsory education in the

elementary level and free education in the high school level. Such education

shall also include alternative learning systems for out-of-school youth and

adult learners. It shall be the goal of basic education to provide them with the

skills, knowledge and values they need to become caring, self-reliant,

productive and patriotic citizens.

The school shall be the heart of the formal education system. It is where

children learn. Schools shall have a single aim of providing the best possible

basic education for all learners.

Governance of basic education shall begin at the national level it is at the

regions, divisions, schools and learning centers herein referred to as the field offices

- where the policy and principle for the governance of basic education shall be

translated into programs, projects and services developed, adapted and offered to fit

local needs.

Statement of the Problem

This study attempted to determine the impact of Technology in relation to quality

education: Grade11 HUMSS-A, Palsong National High School

Specifically, answers to the following questions will be sought:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age, and


1.2. Gender

2. What are the positive effects of using Technology in quality education?

3. What are the problems encountered by the respondent in using technology?

Significance of the Study

In the effectiveness of accrediting courses to quality education share control and

everyone learns. It focuses mainly on the impact of the quality education brought by the

accreditation to the college students.

Students. The foremost concern of the research, the study will help determine

the effectiveness of the impact of the accreditation in relation to quality education.

Teachers. The result of this study gives them insights and even it increases their

level of awareness on the impact of the accreditation in relation to its quality education.

Likewise, they will be equipped with the sufficient knowledge in promoting and all out

support of the department. Findings of this study would provide the feedback, which is

essential in the improvement of their strategies and methods on adapting good quality

education.

Definition of Terms

Institutions a corporate body or establishment instituted and organized for an

educational, medical, charitable, or similar purpose, or the building occupied by such a

corporate body.

Profile refers to the outline of the human towards his/her race, age, or other

characteristics to generalize.

Impact is a powerful or major influence about something.

Education is a field of study that deals with the methods and problems of teaching.
Experience is a skill or knowledge that you get by doing something.

Solution is something that is used or done to deal with and end a problem or something

that solve a problem.

Technology is the discipline dealing with the art or science of applying scientific

knowledge to practical problems.

Student a person who is studying at a school or college.

CHAPTER 2

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

This chapter presents the related literatures and studies reviewed which provided

the researcher the necessary information and knowledge in the conduct of the research.

There were few studies that relate to this study that has been found, however; those

that were available were proven adequate for the research. The literatures reviewed

written by foreign and local educators were found relevant on the impact of Technology

in relation to quality education: Grade11 HUMSS-A Palsong National High School. The

similarities and differences were cited and pointed out as well as their inputs. A

synthesis of the art and the gap bridged by their study dovetailed the review.

Standards within the Context of the Profession

Friggard (2002), Miner (2004), and Timucin (2006) confirmed that technology

increases the development of teaching methods and learners’ knowledge. Lam &

Lawrence (2002) also expressed that technology helps learners to regulate their own

learning process and have access to many information that their teachers cannot
provide. Pourhosein Gilakjani and Lai-Mei (2012) elaborated that the unique

opportunities technologies provide have brought about new tools, approaches, and

strategies in the teaching and learning of language skills. Technologies are increasingly

widespread, impacting many aspects of our social and work lives, and many of our

leisure activities. Many researchers stated that technology can be used as an

instructional tool in teaching and learning skills. Pourhosein Gilakjani (2013) and

Bruce and Levin (2001) expressed that technology can be useful in classroom by

helping communication, making teaching products, and assisting learners’ self-

expression. According to Pourhosein Gilakjani (2013), when we talk about instruction,

education, or training issues we have to consider the important role of technology. The

researchers continued that the application of technologies in education opens a new

area of knowledge and provides a tool that has the great potential to change the

existing teaching methods. The effect of using technology on education has been

examined by different researchers in various fields. All of these researchers

unanimously agreed that technology helps teachers improve their teaching methods

96 learners increase their knowledge (Frigaard, 2002; Pourhosein Gilakjani &

Sabouri, 2014; Schofield & Davidson, 2003; Timucin, 2006). When using technology,

learners not only control their own learning process, but also have access to further

information over which their teachers cannot control (Pourhosein Gilakjani & Sabouri,

2014).
