    PARTI Part I: Skittles Project

    This project consists of five parts that you will complete throughout the semester, either alone or
    in small groups. This is the signature assignment for this course. Write a paper and upload a pdf
    of it for each part.

    Part I should include:

    Purchase a 2.17-ounce bag of Original Skittles and count the number of candies of each
    color in the bag. Also, give the total number of candies in the bag. Report the values in this
    format:

    Red: 12
    Orange: 14
    Yellow: 12
    Green: 13
    Purple: 7
    Total: 58

    Answer these questions:


    1. What is the most common color and least common color?

    Most Common: Orange Least Common: Purple

    2. What is the relative frequency for red Skittles? Note: this is the value for p^ that
    you will use in part E below.

    12/58= 0.206896552= 0.207

    3. Conjecture the number of Skittles of the most common color if you had a bag of
    5,000 total Skittles.
    5,000*(14/58)=1206.896552=1206.897

    Were the Skittles you used a random sample? Explain.

    The skittles that I used were not a random sample because they were not equally selected.
    Orange, purple and green had different frequency.

    Carry out a simulation for red Skittles with 10,000 trials to test of these hypotheses:
    H0:p=0.2
    HA:p≠0.2

    The p-value is 0.8625

    Enter 0.2 as the probability of success (heads), the total number of Skittles in your bag as the
    sample size, and 10,000 as the number of samples. Click on "Draw Samples" to do the
    simulation. Have the app compute a two-sided p-value for your simulation by selecting
    "Proportion of Successes" and entering your value for p^from Part C above in the "As extreme
    as" box. Then check the box for the "Two-sided" option. The p-value will be printed in red above
    the graph of your results. Take a snip or screenshot of your output including all your inputs and
    the graph. Based on your p-value and α= 0.05, should you reject or fail to reject the null
    hypothesis? What is the appropriate conclusion in context?
