NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE BSP OVERNIGHT CAMP 2022

The Scout Movement is a movement that aims to provide young students support in their physical,
mental, and spiritual development, so that they may play constructive roles in society, with a strong focus
on survival and outdoor skills.
In order to engage the commitment of every youth in the province to actively participate in scouting
activities, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Mayon (Albay), the Mayon Council conducted the
Simultaneous Overnight Camp. The said event was held last November 25-26, 2022 at Hindi Elementary
School, Bacacay, Albay.
The BSP Overnight Camp 2022 was originally scheduled last November 18-19, 2022. However,
due to weather inclement, the camp was rescheduled. The district-based overnight camp was participated
by fifteen (15) elementary schools of Bacacay West District and as a school that promotes and supports the
scouting movement, Mataas Elementary School also joined the said scouting activity.
The opening program of the 2022 District-based Overnight Camp started at exactly 1:00 in the
afternoon of the 25th of November with the selected boy scouts performing the Entrance of the Colors. The
event was a simultaneous opening ceremony for the BSP and GSP since it was approved by the Schools
Division Superintendent (SDS).
During the opening program, Scouter Salve Bea, the District Kab Coordinator oriented the scouts
on the different activities and their corresponding venues. Then, the participants were grouped into nine (9)
patrols and were tasked to do their first task, flag making. Afterwards, they were given the chance to
choose the name of their patrol but it should be an animal name.
Series of activities followed. They were as follows: Scout Ideals, Flag Courtesy, Knot Tying, and
Tent Pitching. For every activity, there were Adult Scouters who were assigned to facilitate the said
activity. Scouts were taught on how to perform the different knot tying techniques during the Knot tying
activity. Plus, they were also taught the proper way of folding the Philippine flag. After the series of
activities, scouts were given the time to practice their presentation for the campfire.
“In the beginning,…Let there be light and there was light.” This phrase marked the opening of the
campfire ceremony. Some of the Scouters facilitated the program by performing a short portrayal. Then,
each of the nine (9) patrols presented their group performance. Their presentations were depictions of their
learnings regarding the Scout Ideals through cheers, yells, and dances. After all the presentations, the
scouts are instructed to proceed to their quarters and rest.
Day 2 – November 26, 2022
Day 2 started with an early morning physical fitness activity. The scouts gathered for their warm-up
exercises through a simple dance exercise facilitated by selected adult Scouters. Afterward, the scouts were
given time to eat their breakfast and prepare for the next activities of the day. The second and last day was
fun-filled with exciting activities such as Community Service, Orienteering, Obstacle Course, and Scout
Games.
After all the activities, the awarding ceremony started. There were patrols that earned many awards,
and there were also some that received few. Although these ribbons do not have any monetary value, but
they represent the pride and joy of every scout who happily participated in the different scouting events.
During the closing program, certificates were also given to all the participants and facilitators. The fifteen
(15) boy scouts of Mataas Elementary School went home safe and sound with unique and unforgettable
stories to tell.
