SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS

Subject: Mathematics Time: 08:20 am-9:10 am / 09:30- 10:20 am /

10:20 am-11:10 am
Grade Level: Grade 8 Date: February 14, 2023
Section: Virgo/ Pisces / Aries Teacher: Hadzmie M. Agar

The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of

A. Content Standard
axiomatic structure of geometry and triangle congruence.
The learner is able to formulate an organized plan to handle a
B. Performance Standard
real-life situation.
C. Learning Competency The learner describes a mathematical system. ( M8GE-IIIa-1 )

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
a. define mathematical system;
b. differentiate point, line and plane;
c. reflect on the relevance of the mathematical system in real-life setting.

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities
 Greetings
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Classroom Management
 Review
 Motivation
B. LESSON PROPER
ACTIVITY
Activity 1: Name Me

ANALYSIS
Activity 2: Am I a Point, Line or Plane?
Direction: Determine whether it is a point, line or plane the things showed in each
number. Answer this in your notebook.

ABSTRACTION
Undefined Terms
These are terms that do not require further explanations or description.

1. Point – it has no dimension (thickness, length and width). It is also

represented by a dot. Thus, a point is named with a capital letter.

Example: •A, •B, •C (point A, point B, point C)

2. Line – it has a length that can extend infinitely in both directions. A line is
named by a small letter, or by any two points within a line.

Example: m A B
(line m) (line AB)
3. Plane – it has length and width that extends in all direction. A plane is named
by a capital letter, or by at least 3 non-collinear points.

Example:
M

The planes above can be named or written as plane M of plane ABC, plane ACB,
plane BAC, plane BCA, and plane CBA, respectively.

DEFINITION
1. Collinear Points are points that lie on the same line.
2. Coplanar Points are points that lie on the same plane.

APPLICATION
The teacher will task students to do this activity to enhance their comprehension
of the topic.
Activity 3: Keep Practicing
Direction: Determine whether it is a point, line or plane the things indicated in
each number. Answer this in one-half crosswise sheet of paper.
1. Paper
2. Charger
3. Road
4. Screen of cellphone
5. Tip of a pin

IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will task students to answer the following activities.
Direction. Use the figure at the right to answer what is being asked:
_______________1. How many planes are there in the figure?
_______________2. How many planes contain H?
_______________3. Name two lines that contain N.
_______________4. Name two points not on the Plane XBN.
_______________5. Name four points that are coplanar.
V. ASSIGNMENT
To strengthen students’ mastery of the topic, they will have homework.
Direction: Answer this on your notebook.
1. Review your this topic and have a research on mathematical system defined
terms.
