Mathematical System

The document outlines a lesson plan for an 8th grade mathematics class on mathematical systems. The lesson plan aims to help students understand key concepts like collinear, coplanar, parallel, and perpendicular points and lines. It includes objectives, procedures like motivational activities, lessons, and evaluations. Students will define terms, differentiate types of points and lines, and reflect on the relevance of mathematical systems in real life applications.

SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 8 MATHEMATICS

Subject: Mathematics Time: 08:20 am-9:10 am / 09:30- 10:20 am /

10:20 am-11:10 am
Grade Level: Grade 8 Date: February 15, 2023
Section: Virgo / Pisces / Aries Teacher: Hadzmie M. Agar

The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of

A. Content Standard
axiomatic structure of geometry and triangle congruence.
The learner is able to formulate an organized plan to handle a
B. Performance Standard
real-life situation.
C. Learning Competency The learner describes a mathematical system. ( M8GE-IIIa-1 )

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students can:
a. define mathematical system (defined terms);
b. differentiate collinear from non-collinear and coplanar from non-coplanar;
c. define parallel, perpendicular and midpoint; and
d. reflect on the relevance of the mathematical system in real-life setting.

Duration: 50 minutes

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparatory Activities
 Greetings
 Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Classroom Management
 Review
 Motivation
The students will play a “Bato Challenge” and the three who will commit
mistake will be the ones who will answer the Activity 1: Guess the Gibberish.
B. LESSON PROPER
ACTIVITY
Activity 1: Guess the Gibberish
 The teacher will post words or phrases that are associated to form a rational
idea regarding the topic.
 The three chosen students will answer this activity orally.

ANALYSIS
 The teacher will ask students about their ideas in the formed words.
 What is the relation of your activity to the next lesson?
 The teacher will elaborate their answers.

Collinear Points are points that lie on the same line.

Non-collinear Points are points that do not lie on the same line.

Example:

A B C

F E G

H
ABC, FEG and HEI are collinear points.
ABI, FEI, GEI, HEG, FEH and ABE are non-collinear points.

Coplanar Points are points that lie on the same plane.

Non-coplanar Points are points that do not lie on the same plane.

Example:

A B

E C D
ABCD is a coplanar point.
ECD is a non-coplanar point.

APPLICATION
Activity 2: Will We Meet Once or Never?
Directions: Determine whether the statement indicates parallel or perpendicular.
Explain.
1. Two lines meet each other and formed 90 o angle.
2. Two lines are just abreast or almost but stay in one direction.
IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will task students to answer this activity.
TRUE OR FALSE
Direction. Write TRUE if the statement is correct and FALSE if not.
_______________1. If O is the midpoint of PT , then PO = OT.
_______________2. When two lines form a right angle then they are parallel with each
other.
_______________3. When two lines do not meet each other then they are
perpendicular.

V. ASSIGNMENT
To strengthen students’ mastery of the topic, they will have homework.
Direction: Answer this in your notebook.
1. Have a research on definition of angles and its types.
