I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the 60-minute class discussion, the Grade-7 learners should have formulated meaningful
expressions. (ENG7GS-IV-f-6)
III. PROCEDURE
A. Activity
1. Preliminary Activity
* Prayer
* Greeting of the class
*Classroom cleanliness
*Checking of attendance
*Recapitulation of the previous lesson
2. Main Activity
* Present the game entitled “Sketchy sketch”
* Divide the class into two.
* Write an idiom of choice on the board and ask the students to draw the literal representation of
that idiom.
* Tell the students that sometimes, the literal representation doesn’t match figurative language.
* The group who can finish first the game will win.
B. Analysis
1. How did you find the activity?
2. What do you think is the difference between literal meaning and idiomatic expressions?
3. Do you think that the literal meaning is somehow the same with the meaning of the figurative
language?
C. Abstraction
* Discuss what is an Idiomatic expression.
* Present sample of idiomsand use it in a sentence.
* Discuss on how to formulate expressions. Present Idiomatic expressions out from the word “Speak”.
Generalization
Ask the students if what are Idiomatic expressions then ask for examples.
D. Application
Use the Idiomatic expressions of the word “Speak” in your own sentence. Write only two sentence
in your 1/4.
