PREFACE
All students learn theoretical subjects in their classroom, but as we are the management
students, apart from theoretical studies we need to get a deeper insight into the practical
aspects of those theories by working as a part of organization during our summer training.
Training is a period in which a student can apply his theoretical knowledge in practical
field. Basically, practical knowledge and theoretical knowledge have a very broad
difference. So this training has high importance as to know how both the aspects are
applied together. The study of management acquires most crucial position in the business
administration. In order to be successful, it is necessary to give priority to the
management in an organization. But it can’t be denied that the study of management
would be more educational, materialistic and even more interesting, if it is to be paired
with the work in organization as an employee. The training session helps to get details
about the working process in the organization. It has helped me to know about the
organizational management and discipline, which has its own importance. The training is
going to be a lifelong experience. Management in India is heading towards a better
profession as compared to other professions. The demand for professional managers is
increasing day by day. To achieve profession competence, manager ought to be fully
occupied with theory and practical exposure of management.
This Project Report has been completed in Partial fulfillment of my management Program,
B.B.M in the company AXIS BANK LTD. which is a leading Bank in Indian Market . The
objective of my project was to study Wholesale Banking Product Portfolio with special

INDUSTRY ITRODUCTION
Banking Industry
The banking industry is one of the most essential financial pillars of the financial sector,
and it is critical to the economy’s functioning. It is critical for a country’s economic
development that its trade, industrial, and farm funding needs are handled with greater
commitment and responsibility. As a result, a country’s progress is inextricably related to
the development of banking. In today’s economy, banks should be viewed as development
leaders rather than money merchants. They play a crucial role in deposit mobilization and
credit disbursement to many sectors of the economy.
Modern banking in India originated in the mid of 18th century. Among the first banks
were the Bank of Hindustan, which was established in 1770 and liquidated in 1829–32;
and the General Bank of India, established in 1786 but failed in 1791.
The largest and the oldest bank which is still in existence is the State Bank of India (SBI).
It originated and started working as the Bank of Calcutta in mid-June 1806. In 1809, it was
renamed as the Bank of Bengal.
10
The rapid transformation in the banking industry over the last decade has made the
industry stronger, cleaner, transparent, efficient, faster, disciplined and a lot more
competitive.
The Indian banking industry has recently witnessed the rollout of innovative banking
models like payments and small finance banks. In recent years India has also focused on
increasing its banking sector reach, through various schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Jan
Dhan Yojana and Post payment banks. Schemes like these coupled with major banking
sector reforms like digital payments, neo-banking, a rise of Indian NBFCs and fintech
have significantly enhanced India’s financial inclusion and helped fuel the credit cycle in
the country.
The Reserve Bank of India, India's central banking authority, was established in April
1935, but was nationalized on 1 January 1949 under the terms of the Reserve Bank of
India (Transfer to Public Ownership) Act, 1948.
In 1949, the Banking Regulation Act was enacted, which empowered the Reserve Bank of
India (RBI) to regulate, control, and inspect the banks in India.
The Banking Regulation Act also provided that no new bank or branch of an existing bank
could be opened without a license from the RBI, and no two banks could have common
directors.
11
Indian Banking Structure
