Tourism Development Plan in Dolores,Quezon

Municipality: Dolores,Quezon

History/Profile of the Place:

The town of Dolores was established in the year 1834. It was

decided by the provincial officials of Batangas and Tayabas, with the

concurrence of bishop of Nueva Caceres and later approved by the

Gobernador y Capitan General de las Islas Pilipinas and the Archbishop

of Manila, that a town be established in the immediate vicinity of

Sitio Hambujan. The place (now Barangay Sta. Lucia) was a famous

bathing place at that time.

On April 11, 1835, the Gobernador Heneral issued a decree

establishing the boundary of the new “pueblo” of Nuestra Senora de los

Dolores.

On May 23, 1835, the local government of Nuestra Senora de los

Dolores was inaugurated with Don Francisco Fernando as its

first Governadorcillo. The seat of the new town was then Barrio de

Maranli (the present site of the town proper-Poblacion). The seat of

government was transferred from Poblacion to Barangay Bulakin II

(present site) since September of 1966.

Dolores has 16 barangays. Antonio, formerly Ayusan, Bagong Anyo,

Bayanihan, Bulakin I, Bulakin II, Bungoy, Cabatang, Dagatan,

Kinabuhayan, Maligaya, Manggahan, Pinagdanlayan, Putol, San Mateo,

Santa Lucia, and Silanganan.

Accessibility

Near the foot of Mt. Banahaw, along the western boundary of

Quezon Province lies the town of Dolores. It is about 100 kilometers

south of Metro Manila and 46 kilometers northwest of the Provincial

Capital, Lucena City. It is adjacent to San Pablo City, Laguna,

bounded on the north by Nagcarlan, Laguna, on the south by Tiaong,

 Quezon, on the east by Lucban, Quezon and on the southeast by

Candelaria, Quezon.

How to get to Dolores, Quezon via Private Transport

Take the South Luzon Expressway, exit at Batangas. Continue

driving towards the direction of San Pablo City. After the Meralco

office you will see a sign “TO DOLORES” turn left . Follow the road

and it will lead to the town of Dolores.

How to get to Dolores, Quezon via Public Transport

JAC/JAM/Lucena Lines stationed at Kamias and Cubao along Edsa or

in Buendia-Taft(LRT) has an hourly trip to Lucena. The bus ride to San

Pablo City(SPC) will take about two hours (Depends on the flow of

traffic). From 7-11(store) SPC take a tricycle to the SPC public

market. Take the jeep going to Dolores Quezon. Last trip leaves at

8:00pm.

a population of 28, 891 people. In 2022,

32,514. This represented 1.67% of the

total population of Quezon province, or

0.20% of the overall population of

the CALABARZON region.  It is located at

the foot of Mount Banahaw.

 For the past 5 months (July 2022 – November 2022) we

recorded 79,417. That’s an average of 15,883 per month.

Accommodation ( location, types, numbers of rooms, products, and

services)

The accommodation in Barangay San Rafael should have more hotels

so that tourists have more options for where to stay, as the

barangay has one (1) hotel , one (2) resort hotel and the rest

are resorts. They must construct a hotel/accommodation that will

provide tourists with an excellent service experience. Another

thing we observed is that the accommodations seem to lack of

staff, we saw some few but not reach in 5 or 10.

- It is located in Dolores, Quezon. For decades, it has been

the seat of traditional healing in the country. It is known

as the power mountain and pilgrimage site to many who look

for spiritual healing. It boasts of its healing waters with a

PH level of 8.5+ and sacred sites called pwestos. 

It is also a protected rainforest. As one of the remaining

mountain ecosystem in the region, this National Park is an

important ecosystem that serves as a resource-base both to

human and ecological systems.

In Dolores, they celebrate festival annually on month of April

which is called Hambujan Festival and Aku-An Festival every

Easter Sunday.

- The town of Dolores was created inb the year 1834. It was

family. Hambujan to most is just basaan. But to the deepest

essence of the word, it is the ceremony of acceptance of guests

from other places who come to present themselves with gift of

friendship and the proposal of unity. Dolores, Quezon is very

rich in nature and the people within there is very kind, humble,

and with hospitality.

people or the tourist who come to Dolores, Quezon.

 DUE TO LACK OF HEALTH FACILITIES THEY CANNOT PROVIDE THE

SAFETY AND HEALTH OF THEIR CITIZENS.

Accessibility
 Travel Time is 8 hours and it depends if it is traffic (Bus,

UV Express, Private Vehicles).

 Dolores, Quezon can accessed by land.

 Budget friendly when you ride with Bus or UV Express from

Manila.

Growth Rate

The population of Dolores grew from 4,835 in 1918 to 32,514 in

2020, an increase of 27,679 people over the course of 102 years.

The latest census figures in 2020 denote a positive growth rate

of 2.52%, or an increase of 3,623 people, from the previous

population of 28,891 in 2015.

Climate

There are essentially two main seasons in Dolores: a wet

season that extends from June to November, and a dry season that

runs from January to April, with May and December being the

changeover months.Mt. Banahaw watershed sustains water for

creeks, rivers, and falls. Even rivers traverse the national park

namely: Balayong, Maimpis, Liliw, Dalawitan, Malinao, Nagcarlan

and San Diego. These river systems directly provide water for

domestic, irrigation and recreational purposes of nearby

municipalities. Lagnas River originating from Kinabuhayan has

religious significance for residents and visitors. Mt. Banahaw

(Dolores side) is also rich with falls some of which are Sta.

Lucia Falls, Suplina and Crystalino Falls.

There are two lakes located in Brgy. Dagatan: Manlalayes and

Gunao Lake. Manlalayes is dry during summer and fills during

rainy season.

Recommendations/ Suggestions:

 Dolores, Quezon is considered as 4th class we recommend that

they need to improve the important things in tourism industry

since it's one of the assest to grow the community.

 Installation of additional streetlights

There aren't enough streetlights on some of Barangay San

Rafael's streets and roadways. Casualties can result from poor

visibility on the streets and on the roadways.

 Establish more health care facilities. Since they don't have

this and it's the basic need of their city.

 They need to be more accessible in their provided e

communication that they promised.

 The souvenir shops is a must for them to have a trade mark.

 They need to provide terminals for the tricycle drivers and

bus stations.

 They need to be more on their word as the Tourism officer said

"They did not consider their city as 4th class instead they

think of their city as world class" be a motivation in every

plans that they have.

1. Activity : ATV RIDE

Purpose: It's a way to explore the great outdoors and tourist

attractions in Dolores, Quezon. Can spend time under the sun and

feel the cool breeze of as you pass by different terrains. It

brings excitement and long-lasting journey of every tourists.

Benefits: By this activity the tourists will be more interested

on riding ATV to roam around Dolores and witness the attractions

that it offers.

2. Activity: Trekking

Purpose: It's the best activity to get the tourists who are very

interested in in walking and enjoying the sceneries. The main

purpose of this activity is that to promote the natural

attractions in a good and productive way .

Benefits: It can help the health of every tourists to be more

energetic when it comes to visiting different attractions. It

also promotes the natural attraction by the help of tourists.

3. Activity: Camping

Purpose: Since every tourists are going for a trip or vacation to

relax/unwind .Camping is one of the best activity that Dolores

provided to attract more tourist since it's more enjoyable to

experience the trip with your loved ones with much more time and

private matters.

Benefits: There are more tourist will try to do overnight in the

camp area enjoy the cold breeze and night view with their family.

4. Activity : Horse Back Riding

Purpose: One of the target market of Dolores are children who

are interested to ride a horse. With them they will the reason

why to have a lot tourists and also to enjoy the scenery with

their family.
Benefits: Since they got the target market it will increase the

arrival of every tourists and most specially it might be the

reason of growth in the municipality.

Marketing Plan

The reason why there are tourists in every municipality is that

they offer not just the place itself but also people behind it.

Dolores ,Quezon have a lots of friendly and hospitable personnels

that will accommodate you to every tourist attractions.

These are the factors to take into account in order to promote

tourism in Dolores , Quezon and encourage the development of

tourism industry:

1. Every event held in Dolores, must promote every attractions ,

culture and it's history.

2. Make a tourism brochure that details Dolores tourist

attractions, history, culture, and tourism services they offered

and transportations options

3. Plan a tourism-related event for Dolores. And promote it in

different search engines to have a broad target market.
