    Airbag Wiring Continuity Testing – Drivers’ Pre Tensioner


    Digital Multimeter – set it to the LOWEST
    Resistance Range possible. Will show 0.00 (in
    reality maybe around 0.02 ohms) when a
    connection is good or -.- - when an open
    circuit is detected, which means a really bad
    connection, a broken wire or a disconnected
    connector. Repeat for other connections pins.
    A reading over 0.5 Ohms indicates a bad
    Sewing Needle inserted in pre-tensioner
    connection – most likely is seat connector
    connector - swap needle to other
    R277. Spray some Electrical switch cleaner to
    connector hole, to find connection to ECU Sewing Needle inserted
    clean pins. Sometimes just separating and re-
    50-way connector. Meter will read 0.00 in connector pin 8
    connecting works, but is usually only a
    when connection is found. 0.00 (repeat for Pin 9) –
    temporary repair.

    Digital Multimeter – set it to the LOWEST
    Resistance Range possible. Will show the
    resistance value of the component being
    tested – e.g. Pre-tensioner 2.4 Ohms. If
    outside the expected range (1.6 to 4.6
    Ohms), run test above to determine the Sewing Needle inserted
    Pre Tensioner Unit location of the bad connection. in connector pins 8 & 9
