Lobby Pressurization

This document contains design calculations for pressurizing lift lobbies in a high-rise building based on QCDD ACMV standards. It calculates the required air volume (Q) to maintain a pressure differential of 12.5 Pa across each lobby and smoke zone. Q is calculated based on the effective leakage area and standard formulas. The effective leakage area accounts for doors, walls, and other sources. The calculated Q of 0.265 m3/s is increased by 50% to 0.397 m3/s to account for additional unknown leaks. The total number of lift lobbies requiring pressurization in the building is 18.

Subject:
Lift Lobbys Pressurisation Based on QCDD ACMV

Conditions : Building type: High rise

as per BS EN 12101-6

Pressure Level : 12.5 Pa across lobby and smoke Zone

1- Air volume required when Lobby door are closed : Q1= 0.83 x AE x P1/2

Q = Volume of Air Required (m3)

AE = Leakage Area from the space (m2)

AE1 = 0.030 (m2) for Double Leaf Doors opens into pressurized space
AE2 = 0.060 (m2) for Leakage ratio fire left
AE3 = 0.060 Lift landing door
AE4/m2 = 0.000210 Exterior building walls per m2
AE5/m2 = 0.000110 Internal building walls per m2
AE6/m2 = 0.000840 Lift well walls per m2

Building exterior wall per story = 182 m2

Lobby area per story = 50 m2
Lift well walls area per story = 25 m2

The leakage ratios for Building exterior wall =

= 0.000110 X 50 = 0.005544 m2

The leakage ratios for lobby wall =

= 0.000210 X 182 = 0.03822 m2

The leakage ratios for Lift well wall =

= 0.000840 X 25 = 0.021168 m2

1) Air Lekage At Serise

= (0.005544∗0.03822)/(( 〖 0.005544 〗 ^2+ 〖 0.03822 〗 ^2))

a) Air Lekage From Exterior and Internal building walls
= 0.0002584 m2

b) Air Lekage From Lift Door the lift Wall At Serise = (0.06∗00.021168)/(( 〖 0.06 〗 ^2+ 〖 0.021168 〗 ^2))

= 0.0199621 m2
2) Total Air Lekage At paralel Will Equal
= 0.01996*3+0.000258+0.03 = 0.09014

P = Pressure Differential = 12.5 Pa

Q1 = 0.83 x 0.09 x 12.5 ½ : Q1 = 0.265 m3 / sec

Although the effective leakage area is known, there are other leaks we are not aware of.
To account for these leaks, Q is increased by 50%, hence:

Q1 = 0.265 +50% Q1 = 0.397 m3 / s

The Total Number Of Lift Lobby Will be Pressurized 18
