EDC Lab Report 1
1 Abstract:
The purpose of this lab was to introduce the oscilloscope and function generator and their
basic features, as well as to demonstrate how to use the instrument to measure and
analyze electrical signals. The lab began with an overview of the oscilloscope and its
components, followed by a demonstration of how to connect the instrument to a signal
source and adjust the settings to display the waveform. Function generator is used to
generate the sinusoidal wave of specific frequency and voltage. So, different waves were
generated by changing the voltage (keeping the frequency constant) and then changing
frequency (keeping voltage constant).
1.2 Objective:
The main objective of this lab are:
To get the basic knowledge of oscilloscope and function generator.
To generate the sinusoidal waves at different voltages and frequencies.
1.3 Introduction:
In electrical engineering, devices like oscilloscope and function generator play an
important role. These devices are very important to study the voltages and current at
different frequencies and amplitude.
Oscilloscope:
An oscilloscope (informally a scope) is a type of electronic test instrument that
graphically displays varying electrical voltages as a two-dimensional plot of one or more
signals as a function of time. The displayed waveform can then be analyzed for properties
such as amplitude, frequency, rise time, time interval, distortion, and others. [1]

Now, the frequency of the signal is kept constant i.e. 60k Hz and voltages are changes to
3V, 3.5V, 4V and 6V:
