MECHANICAL FAN (MV) FAN INSTALLATION 1 Jun 2020
3.3.1 Ensure proper housekeeping is done before and after work activities
3.3.2 To take before and after photos for each work area activities
a. Ensure that the associated ductwork and electrical work has been completed according to the
layout.
c. Rotate fan manually, if possible, and check whether there is any obstacle or foreign object.
d. Press the ‘Start’, and immediately ‘Stop’ button at local control panel to perform try-run. Check
whether the fan is free to rotate and note for any abnormal noise.
e. Press the ‘Start’ button again and let the fan run for about 5 seconds. Observe for any unusual
vibration and noise from motor or ductwork.
f. Run the fan for a while and check running ampere. If the reading is higher than motor specification,
stop the fan immediately.
g. Take a few air velocity readings from either upstream or downstream side of the fan. Calculate the
average value and convert it into air capacity by: -
Q (cmh) = Vave (m/s) X A (m2)
where,
Q, air capacity
Vave , average air velocity
A, total duct cross area
