Materials: powerpoint presentation, speaker, lapel, downloaded OPM songs

III. Procedure

A. Motivation

Mechanics:
1. The teacher will play excerpts of recordings of any composition of Filipino Philippine popular
music.
2. Listen carefully to each excerpt.
3. The teacher will choose a student who will guess the title of the song and the name of
composer/singer.

B. Presentation of the Lesson


Say:
Today, we are going to discuss some prominent Filipino composers and their works.
Specifically, at the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
1. Listen perceptively to excerpts of major Philippine popular music;
2. Sing selections of Philippine popular music

C. Lesson Proper

The Singing Bee

Mechanics:

1. The class will be divided into three.


2. The teacher will show a picture Filipino Singer/Composer. The teacher will let the
students guess who is in the picture.
3. The students will be asked to share their insights about the singer/composer.
4. The teacher will give additional description of the singer/composer of the songs.
5. The teacher will choose a group. All the members of the group will attempt to sing the
song and guess the missing line of the song.
6. The team with the highest number of points will be the winner. The point system will be
as follows:
1st– 5 points
2nd- 4 points
3rd – 3 points

Ask:
Who are other Filipino singers/composers that you know. What are their famous hit
songs? Let them sing part of the song.

D. Application

As a student, how can you help preserve Filipino music despite the wide influence of foreign
music like kpop nowadays?

E. Generalization

What is the importance of preserving our own music?

IV. Evaluation

Listen to OPM songs in your music player list in your cellphones and choose one that you
will sing in front. Each member of the group will have a part in the song that they will sing
alone. (The students will be graded individually)

V. Assignment

Research further on famous Filipino Singers/ Composers. Listen to their songs. Record yourself while
singing one of their compositions. Send the copy of your video through messenger or any video
messaging app.
