Mummies in the Morning


<chapter 1>

Gaze(v) 바라보다 I gazed at the weird picture.

Cough(v) 기침하다 The smoke made me cough.

Ladder(n) 사다리 I climb up the ladder to reach the top.

push aside(v) 옆으로 밀어내다 I pushed aside the chair so I could open the
door.
branch(n) 나무 가지 Monkeys swing on tree branches.

tip toe(v) 발끝으로 살금살금 I tip toed quietly in the dark.

whisper(v) 속삭이다 My friend whispered in my ear.

sled(n) 썰매 I slide down the hill in my snow sled.

parade(n) 행렬, 퍼레이드 People came to see the parade marching down
the street.
sleek(adj) 매끄러운 The sleek sports car sped down the race track.

hometown(n) 고향 My hometown is where I was born.

pull out(v) 꺼내다 He pulled out his sword to fight.

mummy(n) 미이라 The mummy was found in the pyramid.

shove into(v) 밀어 넣다 I shoved the clothes into the washing machine.

take off(v) 출발하다 The plane will take off, please put on your
seatbelts.
vanish(v) 사라지다 The cat vanished suddenly, I couldn’t see it.

tower above(v) 높이 치솟은 The basketball player towered above the


children..
pant (v) 헥헥 거리다 The dog was panting because he was hot.

slink(v) 살금살금 기다 The tiger slinked through the grass silently.

loome(v) (그림자가) 일렁이다 The light loomed and seemed to be dancing.

spell (n) 마술, 마법 The fairy cast a spell on the little princess.

poisonous (adj) 독이 있는 That mushroom is poisonous! Don't eat it!

demon(n) 악마 Demons are evil.

squint(v) 눈을 가늘게 뜨다 I squinted my eyes to see in the bright light.

hieroglyphs(n) 그림 문자, 상형 문자 Hieroglyphs are pictures used for writing in


ancient Egypt.
ancient(adj) 고대의 Ancient times are very long ago.

zigzag(adj) 지그재그의 The shape of lightning is a zigzag.

nod(v) 고개를 끄덕이다 I nodded my head to say yes.

squiggly(adj) 구불구불한 My handwriting is so squiggly, it is hard to read.

understand.

on their heads.
pole(n) 막대 The long pole help the kitten come down.

droop(v) 축 늘어지다 The laundry drooped on the wire.

cloth(n) 천 We make our clothes out of cloth.

float (v) 뜨다 The balloon floated high up in the air.

withered (adj) 말라버린 The flower was withered and dry..

flesh (n) 살점 The flesh surrounds the bones.

hollow (adj) 속이 빈 It is hollow inside the tube.

eye sockets (n) 눈 구덩이 Our eyes are in their eye sockets.

rot (v) 썩다 The cake will rot if you don't put it in the fridge.

imagination(n) 상상력 You can make anything possible with your


imagination.
shudder (v) 진동하다 The sound shuddered inside the cave.

hold one’s 숨을 참다 I held my breath to go in the water.

school.

mess(n) 엉망 My room is a mess.

tip(v) 기울이다 The baby tipped the cup and spilled the milk.

tomorrow.
