III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY/RESPONSE

A. Preparatory Activities

1. Greetings
“Good morning Teacher!”
"Good morning Class!" “Good morning classmates!”
“It's nice to see you again, mabuhay!

2. Prayer

“To start the day, let us ask the Lord for His (Raquim leads the prayer)
guidance. Raquim, can you lead the prayer?”

3. Attendance Checking

"Can you chat your complete name on the chatbox

for your attendance?" “Okay, teacher.”

"After the class, I'll be checking your attendance “Yes, teacher.”

through the recording video and for those students'
name who aren't on the chatbox will be marked as
absent."

“Understood, class?”

"Okay!"

4. Classroom Rules

“So, before we begin our class, let us be reminded of

our classroom rules.”

To make our virtual classroom a healthy and

productive environment, let's keep these in mind.

1. Find a quiet place to work

2. Be prepared
3. Mute yourself and video on
4. Raise hand button or chatbox
5. Don't talk when others are talking
6. Be respectful and kind The learners will click the raise hand
button.
“Are you ready to learn? Click the raise hand button
if Yes”

5. Review of the Past Lesson “About how to take care the plants”

“Can anyone recall about what we discussed last

meeting”

“Very good! So we discussed the importance of

plants to humans and how we could take good care
of plants. “Watering the plants regularly”
“They need sunlight”
“Who can give an example of how to take care of “Soil/fertilizer”
your plants?” “Space”

“Very Good! You were able to recall the discussion Students will clap
we had last meeting so let us give ourselves a clap
for doing a good job”
“Living thing"
“Living Things and Non-Living Things” “Non-living thing, teacher.”

“So class, do you now consider a plant as a living

thing? Or a non-living thing?”

“Okay, some of you answered living and also non-

living things. So, we will find out the answer later as
we go along with our discussion today."

6. Motivation

“Okay now class, in 10-20 seconds, I want you to “Yes, teacher.”

room around in your house and look for an object
that has a life and one that has no life.”

“Did you get it class?" (The students will start doing the task)

“You can now start, class.”

(After 10-20 seconds) “Pencil, Table, Chair, Cellphone…Not

Alive”
“Alright!” “Cat, Me, Dog, Mama, Papa…Alive”
“Mama is alive, and Table is not alive”
“Okay class, can you show the thing that has a life in
.
the camera?

“Very Good, Darylne. How about you, Raycah?

The learner's listen attentively.
“Okay, very good class. Let us give ourselves
around of applause.”

7. Statement of the Objectives

Present the lesson objective for pupils to see.

"So class, our lesson objective for today is for us to:

1. Classify living and non-living things.

2. Realize the characteristics of living and non-
living things.

B. Lesson Presentation

“Now, I will be presenting a video. I want to listen

carefully and attentively to the story because later, I’ll
be asking a question regarding the story.

“Here’s the questions, class.” "Yes, teacher"

“Are you still following class?”

“Are you now ready, class? Type 1 if you’re ready.”

(The learners will chat 1 on the chatbox)
“Okay!”

(The teacher will now present the video.)

(The teacher pauses the video)

1. Okay, class. First question, what animals are

present in the story? “Rabbit, Bird, Snake, and Monkey”

“That’s right!” Let us now continue the video.

2. So again class, based on your answers a “Living things, teacher.”

while ago, are those animals a living or non-
living things?

“Very good!” “Bird, Monkey, Rabbit, Frog, Trees”

3. How can we say that they are a living thing,

class? What makes them a living thing? “It grows, breathe, eats”

Brilliant! Because the grow, breathe, eats and

also they can move. And these what we called
Characteristics of a Living Thing that was
mentioned in the story, class.”

3. “Now class, is stone a living or non-living “Non-living teacher”

thing”

“Very good!”
As mentioned in the story class, what makes
a stone a non-living thing? “It does not grow and breathe”

That’s right! And that’s what we call a

Characteristics of a Non-living Things.

Since they are not alive, therefore class they

can’t eat, breathe, move and reproduce.

C. Value Infusion

“Next question class. In the story, the bird “Because there is a colony of ants behind
stopped the rabbit from throwing the rock in the rock.”
the pond. What was the birds reason for
doing so, class?

“Very good! So if the rabbit will remove the rock from

its place, then he will also be destroying the home of
the ants, which is wrong. Because as what the snake
said in the story, even though rocks and other non-
living things are not alive, they are still important to
support the life of the living.”
"Yes, teacher"
Aside from that class, if the stone is thrown to the
pond, there will be a possibility that the fish in the
pond that will get hurt because of the stone. So be
careful class when throwing a thing.

"Do you get it, class?"

“She said sorry, teacher.’

“Last Question. What did the rabbit say when she (The students listen attentively)
was about to destroy the home of the ants?”

“That’s right! If you’ve done something wrong or

even if you’re just about to do it, you should say
sorry, because people, animals, and even plants
have feelings. They will be hurt if you say something
bad or if you do something wrong.”
D. Enrichment Activity

“This time class, I want you to watch carefully the

continuation of the story. Because you have to write
down all the living and non-living things that will be
mentioned in the story. And identify what
characteristics they have.”

So again class, what are the characteristics of a “It grows, eats, move, breathe,
living things? reproduce.”

“How about the non-living things, class?” “It does not grow, eats, breathes,
reproduce.”
Okay, lets play again the video.

Okay! Did you enjoy the story class? “Yes teacher”

Now class, can you chat on the chatbox what living

and non-living things you see in the story?”

“Raycah, your answer is Frog and Plants. Can you Living – Frog and Plants. – Frog can eat,
give their characteristics?” grow; Plant can grow and breathe

Very Good!

“Karla, you answered Cap. Is a cap a living or non-

living? “Non-living”

Perfect!

“Cristine, can you tell what characteristics a cap is”

“It does not grow, teacher.”

That’s right!

We’re now able to classify what is a living and non-

living thing. And their characteristics.

Is everything clear class? Any question?

Clarifications?
E. Group Activity

“This time class, we will have a group activity.”

“For this activity class, you have to complete the

table. Each group must provide first a 5 objects that
can be seen in the story earlier.”

“So, for example, Bird. Is bird can grow?” “YES”

“Does it move?” “YES”
“Does it reproduce” “YES”
“Does it breathe” YES

So that’s how you’ll answer your activity, class.

Understood?

Mission: The learners will complete the table

provided in the PowerPoint Presentation. The
learners will then identify the characteristics by
answering the question in each column with YES or
NO.

Materials:

● Google Docs
● Google Meet Links

Objective Does it Does it Does it Does it

grow? move? reproduce? breathe?

Bird YES YES YES YES

(The students listen attentively)

Additional Questions:

1. What ….

Okay!! So now class, this will be your groupings.”

“Yes, teacher”
“How will you discuss it with your group. So, I will
be giving you another set of google meet link. When
you are already in your assigned link, I will be
sending a google docs where you can answer the “Yes, teacher.”
activity.”
(The group 1 answer)
“In this activity, you have to work collaboratively
with your members. So, in your group, you will
assign a leader, another person to share the screen,
and another person who will present their output to Group 2-4 answer)
the class, ”

“I’ll be giving you 8-minutes to answer the activity. The group 1 present their answer.
The time will start when you are already on your
respective link.”

Understood, class?”
Group 2 present their output.
Group 3 present their output.
“You can now enter your respective link provided on Group 4 present their output.
the chatbox.”

(The teacher will now roam for each group link)

“Are all groups are already here in the main gmeet?”

“Are all groups ready to present their output?”

“Okay, Group 1, you may now start presenting your

output.”

“Let us give them first a round of applause. I will only

give your scores right after the presentation of all
groups. Is that okay with you, class?”

(The teacher will evaluate if the answers of the group

is correct)

(Group 2 until 4 presents their outputs right after

Group 1.)

F. Application

“Now, Is a tree a living thing? “Yes, teacher.”

“Is the branch of the tree is a living thing” “Yes, No, Depends”
“So, it depends. If the branch is attach to the tree, it “It grows”
is a living thing. Why?”

Follow up questions:

Does it grow?
(Yes, it could even branch out) “Yes teacher”
Does it breathe?
Does it eat?
(Yes, it needs air, sunlight, and water to grow)
Does it move?
(Yes, because in order for them to grow, they have
to move)

“Very good!”

“How about if the branch is broken and fell on the (Answers vary)
ground, is it still a living thing?”

“Okay, why can you say that it is still a living thing”

Does is it still grow?
Does it still breathe? “No, teacher.”
Does it still eat?
Does it still move?
(No, it no longer receives nutrients from the tree, so
it no longer grows. So the branch will eventually die)

“Therefore, a branch that fell-off from the tree is not

a living thing.”
G. Generalization

"And that’s a wrap for today’s discussion.”

“Let’s make a review of what we had today.”

1. What again are the living things?

“Living things have “life,” though some might
not show its evident signs.

2. What are non-living things?

“Non-living things are not alive. They do not
possess life”.
3. What are the characteristics of living and
non-living things?
“The Characteristics of living things is that
they can grow, can move, can breathe, can
reproduce, and can eat. Unlike living things,
non-living things they cannot grow, they
cannot move by its own, they cannot breathe,
"Brilliant!!" they cannot reproduce and they cannot eat”.

"So, as I've observed, I can definitely say you've

gained enough knowledge throughout the class."
H. Evaluation

“And now, class, are all ready for a short quiz?” “Yes, No teacher”

“Okay!”

“I will be sending a google form in the chatbox

where you can answer the quiz.”

“I will be giving you 5 minutes to answer the quiz.”

“The googleform has be sent already in the chatbox.

You can now start answering, class.”

“So class, who got an 8, 9 or perfect score?”

“Me, Me, Me teacher”

“Brilliant”

“Okay, so for those who may not the pass the quiz,
please study more and don’t hesitate to ask question “Okay, teacher”
or clarifications regarding the topic, okay?

“Still class, let us give ourselves a round of virtual

applause, you did very well class. Good Job!”

I.Assignment

“So for your assignment, kindly copy the writing on

your notebook presented on the slide”.
