A. RESEACH METHOD
This qualitative research used case study method in order to have
information about the participants. This method also seeks to
understand the experience of grade 10 students and teachers at Teresa
National High School.
We asked twenty (20) grade 10 students of Teresa National High
School, and four (4) teachers of Teresa National High School, Teresa,
Rizal. The research consists of ten (10) female students, (10) male
students, three (3) male teachers, and one (1) female teacher.
experienced problem during blended learning does blended learning help you improve
do you prefer face-toface classes
The clustered column shows that eight (8) students experienced having
problem or difficulties during blended learning. Mae, not her real name, says
that she had problem communicating with her adviser because she does not
have gadget to use, while the other seven (7) says they do not have the ability
to connect to the internet. Six (6) participants said they did not experience any
problems during blended learning. The other six (6) said there is not much
problem during blended learning.
Eleven (11) out of twenty (20) G10 student participants said blended
learning helped them improve their knowledge, skills, and some became
independent. While the nine (9) other students said it’s not helpful, because
they did not have a teacher to guide them and it gives them a hard time
answering and learning every lesson.
On the other hand, sixteen (16) G10 students prefer face-to-face classes.
Grace, not her real name, said it was much better than learning alone at house,
there is the teachers to teach and guide, classmates and friends that she can
ask for help, and of course the high school life experience that every teenager
is looking forward to. Four (4) do not prefer face-to-face classes because
learning at home is convenient, I can manage my own time, do other things
instead of being at school, as long as I understand the lesson, I prefer modular
than face-to-face classes, says Jay, not his real name.
Based on the bar graph four (4) teachers of Teresa National High School says
that blended learning affects their way of teaching. It does affect my way of
teaching, but not all the time because I can adjust easily, says Ma’am Mary
Ann. All four (4) of the teachers we surveyed says they encountered problems
specially when communicating to their students who do not have internet
access. Meanwhile, three (3) teacher participant says blended learning has
impact to their health, they said they are stress adjusting with the new set up.
While Mr. Pantaleon says that blended learning did not affect his health in
anyway.
CONCLUSION
A. Based on the finding the following conclusions are given.
1. The results shows that face-to-face classes is the most prefer modal
by the students, blended learning caused a lot of problems, both to
students and teachers.
2. It is shown that the implementation of blended learning was still
helpful, if it was not implemented by the time, a lot of time will be
wasted.
3. Face-to-face is basically better than blended learning, students get to
learn better inside the school and teachers can teach and guide us
better, there will be no interruptions such as: bad internet connection
and having difficulties on using the gadgets.
