1. PURPOSE
1.1 This document defines the entire process of door leak test which shall be carried out on
all the doors on the wellhead Module project.
1.2 Also it outlines the methodology and criteria of acceptance for all the doors in order to
ensure that seat on the permanent support tightness are maintained
2. SCOPE OF WORK
This method statement covers the minimum test requirements for Internal and External Door
installed into PT. CGM under taken project, the type of test required for each door is
mentioned in Attachment-1.

4. RESPONSIBILITY
4.1 The Project Team and the Yard Superintendent will be responsible for the safety of all
personnel and equipment. However, it should be the responsibility of every individual to
ensure that each activity is performed in a safe and controlled manner. To ensure as
well, that this method statement is fully adhered and complied with all the safety aspects
and objectives.
4.2 The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the preparation of all required documents that
will be used for door leak test.

4.3 Fabrication Yard Superintendent will be responsible for assigning a structure foreman
through his Structure Supervisor to carry out the required door install activities.
Coordinate and monitor the test activities to ensure that it shall be carry out in a safe
and timely manner. It shall coordinate with Lead Engineer to ensure that all system and
equipment are available for door leak test.
4.4 The QA/QC Inspector will review the overall equipment condition and any requested
qualification before and after installation. The review is made to ensure that the
equipment could be used by project or damage or not match with specification
4.5 Safety Officer will review and monitor door leak test. Ensure that all steps of
process are being carried-out in safe conditions and are out of danger. Ensure door
leak test and areas is cordoned-off and clearly marked avoid entries of
unauthorized personnel.
5. WORK METHODOLOGY
5.1 General Instruction
5.1.1 All material shall be installed at area for minimizing uncertainty handling prior to the
test at designated place.
5.1.2 Ensure that the area is clean and already inspected by QC Inspector. Contractor and
Installer then will ensure that the locations have been checked and met to the
requirements.
5.2 Visual Examination
Prior door tightening test, items to clear by visual as follows:
a) Acceptance of weld or tightening of the bolts on door frame and NDT (if any),
b) Door frame dimension for queerness and alignment,

c) All door appurtenances installed (rubber/seal, door’s latch, handles) properly as per
schedules,
d) Check from the inside that no light is leaking through any gaps after door installed.
5.3 Chalk Test
Chalk testing (another hatch test) gives only an indication of poor compression and potential
leaks.
 Clean the rubber gasket
 Clean the knife edge/bulkhead frames
 Rub chalk on the all-around the knife edge/bulkhead frames
 Close the door and shut tightly.
 Open the closure and observe the imprint of chalk on the gasket. If chalk line is not
continuous, the closure door is not watertight and required further adjustment or
repair. Repeat the test until results are satisfactory.
5.4 Water Hose Test
The procedure outlines not only the test methodology and its acceptance criteria but as well
as the required safety guidelines and other pre-requisite and pre-cautions.
 Close the entire door by tight.
 Sprays all around the door with water pressurize from air compressor with a pressure
of 2.1 bar (30 Psi), held at a distance of 1-1.5 meters from a door’s hatch joint, moving
along the joint at a speed of 1 meter every 2 seconds.
 Check any leakage around the door. If there is no leakage, the door installation and
test is acceptable. Otherwise, check the gasket fit up and retest.
