Even after carefully reading the material, I still don't understand some points.
First, we'll talk ab Three important points were clear to me after reading the essay. First, I
discovered that choosing Jose Rizal as the national hero of the Philippines is still seen as
strange. Even though few of his fellow Filipinos could understand his writings, Rizal
spent his entire lifespan creating novels while living abroad due to expert supposition.
Their views imply a detrimental effect on the late hero's valiant and patriotic deeds. In
addition to this, he actually intended to turn his nation into a colony of Spain, its original
colonizer. As a result, some Filipinos, including myself, started to doubt Rizal's
allegiance to his nation.
Second, I discovered that writing represents the writer's position rather than just
being a collection of words. As it was stated in the reading, "Writing is a form of having
a position on a certain issue." A writer has the right to voice his or her personal ideas
regarding a particular issue that exists in their nation. On the other hand, he also needs to
adhere to the ethical requirements set forth by his profession, which include encouraging
self-awareness and exercising caution while using language. A writer also has a
significant impact on how his fellow people think. He, like Rizal, used his incredible
novels to spark the Filipinos' revolt against the Spaniards.
Third, I discovered that Jose Rizal is regarded as the "First Filipino" not just
because he coined the name "Filipino," but also because, in Guerrero's words, he is first
in the hearts of Filipinos. Because of his valiant and patriotic achievements for his
homeland, Rizal is regarded as the first in the hearts of Filipinos. He gave his life in order
to protect the sovereignty of the entire archipelago.out the significance of Jose Rizal's
well-known books, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" These books appear to be
really timely for Filipinos of all ages. The one thing that tends to elude me is what
specific qualities these novels have that make them so timeless and relevant today, given
that there have been numerous changes that have led to both the advancement and
regression of the nation.
Furthermore, after knowing that Jose Rizal was proclaimed the "First Filipino," the
reason why he was deemed the "First Filipino" is what I found to be confused in this
section. As previously stated, Rizal spent his entire life on the shores of other nations,
which appears to be the foundation for the claims made about him at the time.
Lastly, after reading the article and understanding about the various obstacles to his
nationalism and bravery that Jose Rizal experienced. Dr. Jose Rizal's actions at that era
led to several Filipinos protesting that he should not be regarded as their national hero. It
has been argued that Rizal spent his entire life in another nation, writing incredible books
that only a few Filipinos could read. The reason why people today glorify him as the
national hero seems unclear to me in this situation.
3. I used to think that….
Before engaging with the article, I held the belief that the act of writing primarily entails
conveying a straightforward message through the use of language. This article highlights
the significant impact of writing on shaping public opinion and disseminating the author's
viewpoints. During the historical period in which Rizal lived, he authored his novels
intending to incite a revolution among the Filipino people against Spanish colonial rule.
Furthermore, I previously believed that Jose Rizal is a figure of great esteem and
admiration. Nevertheless, this article effectively conveyed the truth to its readership. The
declaration of Jose Rizal as the national hero has been subject to questioning due to
concerns regarding his perceived acts of disloyalty. In the past, there was a prevailing
sentiment among individuals that criticized the late hero for his decision to reside abroad
and dedicate his efforts to writing novels. This criticism was directed towards him even
though only a select few of his compatriots could comprehend and appreciate his literary
works.
In addition, I held the belief thabelievednication was the simplest method of distributing
information due to the absence of social media during that time. Upon perusing the
aforementioned article, it became evident that Jose Rizal encountered significant
challenges in disseminating his intellectual perspectives across the entirety of the
Philippine archipelago. During that period, a considerable challenge arose in terms of
financial resources due to the Philippines being under the control of the Spanish colonial
administration, which was characterized by their oppressive behavior. Rizal encountered
obstacles in publishing his novels and faced delays in initiating the revolution.
