Part B: Parent Meeting Self-Evaluation

Score: 4.5/5

I believe was effective in putting together a successful workshop in teaching the parents

of Sunny Side Daycare about the chosen topic. I’m thrilled with the turn out and the interest in

the event from all the parents, we had a total of 19 different families arrive at the workshop.

More families were interested, but conflicting schedules were the issues, thus for future I would

like to schedule more dates for the same topic workshops to hope more families get the

opportunity to experience the event. As the presenter, I do feel confident in front of the families I

care for as I have created a warm trusting relationship with each of them, so I feel comfortable

with them all, but I still struggle with stage freight and expressing the thoughts in my head

correctly. Next time, I wish to have supply myself with more note cards to have a backup to help

with maintaining my thoughts during the presentation. A challenge that was faced was securing a

time that made the most sense for the families. As we care for families that often work nine-to-

five, we had to make the workshop after hours. Which became difficult as a staff was needed to

occupy the children brought with the parents, but also the workshop couldn’t extend too late as

children needed to go home for their nighttime routine. Therefore, perhaps find an online option

to the meeting would be effective to allow parents to stay home and maintain their current

schedule.

Notification of Meeting Letter

Hello Families,

On Thursday July 27th, 2023, we will be hosting a parent workshop on the topic of

redirecting challenging behaviours. This workshop will take place starting at 6:00pm in the

kindergarten classroom. Challenging behaviours is very common amongst young children. Our

goal is to help provide strategies in improving the child’s experiences, both in and out of the

classroom. Straying away from using the word “no” and providing the children with clear

expectations of what they can do alternatively. Through the delivery of a presentation and open

conversations, parents will be given the opportunity to exchange ideas and leave the workshop

hopefully with new insight on the topic.

If interested in attending the workshop:

please reply ‘yes’ to this email and confirming how many adults with attend. Also, indicate if
