Summer Vacation Assignment

Class VI
Instructions: All the questions must be answered in a common holiday's homework notebook.
English
1. In your holiday's homework notebook prepare a dictionary having minimum 5 new words of each
alphabet with their meanings to enhance vocabulary. Cover your holiday's homework notebook with a
beautiful cover and write a motivational quotation on it.
2. Do you have a ‘dream’ or something you very much wish to do? Write a paragraph saying what is your
dream or what you wish to do.
3. Look at the image given below and answer the following questions as instructed:

i. Choose and write any 10 words form the given image. Write the meanings of these words and
frame sentences of your own using these 10 words.
ii. Choose another set of 10 words (different from the previously chosen words) and compile a
short story of about 100 words using these 10 words. Give a suitable title to your story.
4. Prepare an inspirational wall hanging. Write any five moral values on it. Decorate your wall hanging
with waste material.
5. Read Unseen Passages 1 and 2 (Page Nos 140 and 142 of Grammar Book). Attempt the given exercises
in your holiday's homework notebook.
Maths
1. Draw a factor tree on A4 size sheet of 72 and 120.
2. Write full form of BODMAS and decorate it.
3. Write all prime and composite numbers from 1 to 100.
4. Make a chart of different types of polygons and write their names.
5. Write and learn divisibility rules of 2,3,4,5,6,8,9,10 and 11.
6. Make a photo frame on “RAMANUJAN - The Great Mathematician”. You need to make a picture of
Ramanujan and write his important contributions in about 50 words.

Science
1. Revise the following chapters and their exercises completed till now: -
Food: Where does it come from ?
Fibre to Fabric
Motion and Measurement of Distances.
2. Read and find out ten new words each and their meanings (you can use dictionary, but not GOOGLE) of
the following chapters:-
Food : Where does it come from ?
Fibre to Fabric
Motion and Measurement of Distances
3. Write about 10 food items along with their ingredients, sources and edible parts of the plant on a chart
paper.
4. Write down 10 animals each falling in the category of Herbivores, Carnivores and Omnivores animals
and paste their pictures along with their names and categories.
5. Make a list (with pictures) of food items generally taken by people of different regions of India. Place
these on a large outline map of India to display in your classroom.
6. Perform the activity of making sprouts at your home from moong or chana and write down the
complete procedure in your notebook.
7. Prepare a project on different types of fibres (define with examples) and paste the different types of
fabrics in your project file (on A4 sheets).
Social Science
1. Collect information about Nelson Mandela (Former President of South Africa) and prepare a project
report on him.
2. Complete the given activity in geography notebook :-
a) Draw a diagram of – Revolution of the Earth and Seasons.
b) Draw a table of conventional signs and symbols used in maps .
3. Make a poster on A3 sheet showing your gratitude and respect towards the farmers. Enhance the
poster with a slogan.
Computer
1. Make a 3-Dimensional model of computer Input/ Output devices.
2. Briefly explain about Windows 7 and its features.
3. Make a list of types of computers being used in our daily life with diagrams and how these are
important for us?
4. Write daily routine stepwise in terms of computational thinking.
5. Briefly explain computer languages.
French
1. Research and make a chart on the following topics.
a) Roll no 1-10 - French Fashion in France
b) Roll no 11-20 - French cuisine (Food, cheese, etc.)
c) Roll no 21-30 - Museums & Monuments.
d) Roll no 31- to the last roll number - French famous personalities.

2. Traduisez en français – Translate in French


Write in French notebook and learn.

3. Name five medicinal plants write their names and their uses in daily life.
4. Name the seven wonders of the world. In which countries are they located? Prepare a collage using
pictures of the seven wonders of the world on an A4 Sheet.
