Judge Christina Hawtay-Jovero of the city court here issued the warrant for the arrest of Asmera
Cacatanong, Asleah Pendatun Macatanong, and Potre Sarah Mama Macatanong on May 29. The three
teachers in Marawi City were appointed to permanent teaching positions despite lacking the necessary
qualifications, and as a result, a local court ordered their arrest. The three employees of DepEd-ARMM's
division office in Marawi City are respondents to a case filed by John Magno, the autonomous region's
regional education secretary, for violation of Republic Act 7836.
Copies of the warrant were only made public on Saturday, according to sources from the department's
regional office in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DepEd-ARMM). Sources told reporters
on Saturday that copies of the warrant had been forwarded to the police for enforcement. The
Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994, also known as the RA 7836, prohibits the enlistment
of teachers without licenses in government schools. According to Magno, investigators discovered that
the three respondents are not licensed teachers but were still appointed to permanent teaching
positions in Marawi City by a predecessor of the region's current chief executive, Gov. Mujiv Hataman.
DepEd-ARMM officials told reporters on Saturday that their appointments were facilitated by the now-
retired Marawi City schools division superintendent Mona Macatanong, who also made headlines for
refusing to retire from work in 2015 after reaching mandatory retirement age. She argued in court that
she was younger than the age she stated on the personal data sheet she filled out when she applied for
a government teaching position three decades ago.
in my own opinion first why do they need to fake their professionalism if they can take an exam for
licensure examination for teachers but why do they need to get arrested if their service is good but
maybe because they are wrong to fake their license just to be called professionals since to become a
professional you need a license to become a permanent teacher in the public even if you are the nicest
teacher you still need a license to be qualified as a professional teacher
CASE 2
According to the DepEd-Cordillera, the teacher violated the child protection policy.
However, legal counsel Atty. Vanessa Flora stated that the teacher's actions were only considered
misconduct because none of the students were subjected to psychological trauma and the teacher's
intention was to instill discipline.
The teacher did not request reconsideration. During her suspension, she will not be paid or receive any
benefits.

A Baguio City high school teacher has been suspended after being caught on video striking her
students with a broom for failing to complete their homework. [HER STUDENTS ARE ACTIVE:
According to the Department of Education (DepEd) - Cordillera, the Filipino teacher from Baguio
City National High School was found guilty of simple misconduct and ordered suspended for one
month and one day, effective June 1.
The teacher was caught on video hitting her students' hands with a broom last February 16 because
they were unable to complete their assignments.
According to the DepEd-Cordillera, what the teacher did was a violation to the child protection
policy.
However, legal officer Atty. Vanessa Flora noted that the teacher's actions only fell under
misconduct since none of the students suffered psychological trauma and the teacher's intention was
merely to instill discipline.
The teacher did not file a motion for reconsideration. She will not be receiving her salary and any
benefits during her suspension.
based on my own opinion beating students is not good and because there is a law for this it is necessary
for teachers to avoid such incidents but in the past such treatment of children was normal but it is not
right to be normal in school because the children may be traumatized to become that teacher because
as an elementary school teacher you need to have a lot of patience to understand them because they
are still children you are the one who will understand them
CASE 3
Police in Asturias, Cebu, filed a criminal complaint for child abuse against an elementary school teacher
who allegedly sexually abused a Grade 6 student yesterday.
The complaint has been referred to the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor's Office for preliminary investigation.
The 11-year-old victim claimed that the Talisay City Central School teacher sexually abused him on
February 26 during the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association in Asturias town.
According to a police report, the teacher gave the student P100 and told him not to tell anyone about
what had happened.
On February 28, the minor reported what the 27-year-old teacher had done to him to his coach. They
then reported the incident to the Women and Children's Protection Desk at the Asturias Police Station,
which filed a complaint against the teacher for violating Republic Act (RA) 7610, or the Special
Protection of Children from Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
In this case the teacher is very wrong, the child has no idea about that and he is a 27-
year-old teacher, but he did that to his student, the teacher should act like a
professional but why that teacher is like that and also paid the child is still her to not
speak, it's too bad because school should be a safe place for everyone but that girl was
abused by her own teacher and also this is a trauma on the child.
