Globalization: Winners and losers in the

world in world trade.

Globalization has affected a lot of people, the main topic in the documentary is
the negative effects of globalization on steel. The documentary starts in
Duisburg, Germany, where a lot of people lost their jobs due to the Chinese
trade. The largest inland port is located on Duisport. Global competition from
countries like China, has been facing a lot of challenges. Duisburg is a town port
that has successfully adapted to globalization by forging alliances. However
American steel workers feel cheated by globalization because they don’t have
as much control toward their industry as they used to. Globalization has caused
a lot of people pain. Joe Biden made a promise to allow European steel access
to the US market, arousing distrust of globalization. The United States has
benefited financially from the trend. In some countries they are struggling to
develop without the help of subsidies. This is because of the consequences of
globalization. An economist named Hernando de Soto tells us about the effects
of globalization in countries all over the world. He says that Peru may appear to
be at the end of the “Worst of all developing countries,” but in reality the
situation has probably gotten worse. In 2016 Peru had four presidents and the
system has collapsed, leading to high Covid-19 death rates. Another topic that
was discussed was industrial fishing being on a break, and anchovies that are a
major source of income for the town of Chancay which are being exported to
China which is poised to take over Peru’s fish resources. Globalization. Has
created winners and losers in world trade, with the coastal Peruvian town of
Chancay divided over proposed construction of a new port. The Chinese fishing
fleet is rapidly expanding in the region, threatening local fisheries and
exacerbating poverty and inequality. Peru is struggling to profit from
globalization, and the microloans that were supposed to help the poor have
had little success in streaming the flow of migrants to Lima. DW interviews several
people in different parts of the world who have benefited from globalization,
such as Marleny Aparicio, who has given up fish farming because of polluted
waters of Lake Titicaca. However, there are also so many people who were
negatively affected, such as Julio Solis, who died in 2020 during the pandemic,
and to her father who lost his life to the virus. The microcredit program was a
success offered by Pro Mujer, which helped a lot of fisherwomen in Peru to
improve their lives. Globalization may be a good thing; it is often the division of
labor and bringing together of humanity that are real winners. It suggests that
we should invest in global cooperation, rather than withdraw into ourselves.

To summarize this Globalization has affected a lot of people for the good and
the bad. Good for the rich and powerful like politicians and bad for the poor like
fishermen, farmers, and the steelworkers because they have no power, and they
have no control over the exports. Some countries had faced worse because of
the Covid-19 which has made a lot of people in pain. Some places have made
fishermen stop due to polluted waters so to end this I just wanted to say as a
person we have to do anything that we can do to cooperate and to help into
anything we can do and let’s avoid ourselves to disagreement and war.
