- The fable was written by the French aviator, Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

It was
published in the year 1943 with his own illustrations in French as Le Petit
Prince. It is a story about a little prince who traveled the universe and gained

wisdom to every planet he visited. The story was translated into hundreds of
languages and has already sold a 200 million copies worldwide. It was one of
the best-selling books in publishing history.

The narrator, a pilot, crash-lands his plane in the Sahara Desert. After trying to
fix his engine, he draws a sheep for a little boy who appears out of nowhere.
Eventually, the author learns that the "little prince" hails from the faraway
Asteroid B-612.

His most prized possession was a rose, but since she was fickle and
tempestuous, he decided to leave the planet. The flower was visibly sad to see
him go, but she encouraged him, nevertheless.

SUMMARIZIN On his way to Earth, he met a king, a vain man, a drunkard, a lamplighter, and
G a geographer. On the geographer's recommendation, he went to Earth but
ended up in the Sahara Desert. There, a snake told him to use its bite if he ever
had to return to Earth. As he learned from the fox, knowing other people is all
about taming them. The essential isn't visible to the eye, says the fox. It's
what's hidden within us. Then the narrator finally meets the pilot who is
stranded in the desert just like him.

Despite the boy's serious air, the narrator grows to love and cherish him.
When he and the boy find a well and drink from it, the narrator saves the boy's
life, but he later stumbles across the prince talking to a yellow snake about
poison just as he's about to tell the prince he fixed his engine. It's supposed to
be a happy reunion, but the narrator can't handle it. Even so, he falls over and
gets bitten by the snake. He can't find his body the next day, so he hopes he's
okay.

He asks readers to let him know if they ever meet the prince. The narrator
returns to his life thinking about the prince and hoping he returns.
