1. Prayer

Kindly stand up, close our eyes and bow

our heads, let’s pray.
(The student will close their eyes and bow their
heads)
(The teacher will play a short audio that
will lead to a prayer.)

2. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning, Sir!

3. Classroom Management

Is our classroom rules clear?

Yes Sir!
You may take your seats.
(The student will take their seats)

4. Checking of Attendance

Secretary, do we have an absentee for

today?
There is no absentee for today, Sir.
That’s great!

5. Checking of Assignment
-
6. Review

Okay Class, before we begin to our new

discussion. Let us recall our last lesson.
What is the lesson that we tackled last
meeting?
The topic that we discussed last meeting is all
about “Interpreting Bar Graphs”.

Motivation:

Before we start our discussion for today, I

prepared a game. This game was called “FIX
Me!”

In this game, let me call some of our

friends that will join us.

(The teacher will play an audio of

Handy Manny)

He was assigned to a mission to

build a building. However, he has a
problem because he didn’t know
the name of building he needed to
construct. Could you help him to
complete the name of the
building?
Yes, Sir! We can help him.

A H
That’s great! I have here a tool box. This tool box
contains the missing letters in the name of handy
manny’s building. I will give this tool box to the RA
student who was in fornt and he/she needed to
pass the box to the next person and when the
music stop he/she needed to pick one of the
letter and go here in front and paste it to the
building in board.
Did you all get it?
Yes, Sir Charls!

Let’s Start!

(The teacher will play a music and stop it multiple

times until the name of the building was
complete)

Give yourself a round of applause for completing

the name of Handy Manny’s Building.
Handy Manny wants to give thanks to all of you
for helping him.

What is the name of Handy Manny’s Building?

The name of Handy Manny’s Building is
“Constructing Bar Graphs”.

That’s correct! Constructing Bar Graphs and that

is what we are going to discuss for today.

Activity:

But before we formally proceed to our discussion,

we will need to open the tool box to know what
are the tools we are going to use. This activity
called, Tools of Activities.

Let’s look the table below. Present the data using

a bar graphs.

A survey was conducted to show the tools that

Handy Manny has. Handy Manny noted down
the tools.

Tools Number of Tools

Screwdriver IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII
Hammer IIIII-IIIII-IIIII-IIIII
Pliers IIIII-IIIII-IIIII
Saw IIIII-IIIII
Tape IIIII
Measure
(The teacher will call students to answer)

Analysis:

Let’s check your answers.

(The teacher will check the students answer)

1. Which tools does Handy Manny have the 1. Screwdriver

most?
2. Which tools does Handy Manny least have? 2. Tape Measure
3. How many tools does Handy Manny have in his 3. 75
tool box?
4. How did you fine the activity? 4. We find the activity by using bar graphs
5. How can Handy Manny represent the data 5. Handy Manny represented the data using a
using a bar graphs? bar graphs through the data he noted

Now, we will start our discussion.

Let us define what is Bar Graphs?

Bar graphs displays data. It is useful when making
direct visual comparisons on a set of data.
Kindly please read what is bar graphs,_________.

A title of the graph tell us what the data

presented is all about.

A bar braphs allow us to compare data by

looking at the height or length of the bar.

A bar graphs has a two axes, the horizontal axis

and the vertical axis.

One of the axes describes the types of

categories being compared. In our example, the
horizontal axis show the tools of Handy Manny in
his tool box.

The other axis shows the numerical values that

represent the values of the data. In our example,
the vertical axis shows the number of tools that
Handy Manny have in his tool box.

Therefore, the bar graphs has a different parts.

The title, horizontal axis, vertical axis and label.
Title is tell us what the data presented is all about.
Horizontal axis describes the types of categories
being compared.
Vertical axis shows the numerical values that
represent the values of the data
Label it tells you what each bar means.
Now, Handy Manny already knows the different
tools in constructing a bar graphs. Also, he wants
to present the blue print so we can start to
construct a bar graphs.

Using the data noted bySir Dan, we can

construct a bar graph using the following steps:

Step 1: To construct a bar graph, start by drawing Step 1

the two axes. Label each.

Step 2: Look at the range of values of your data. Step 2

Decide on a scale and interval for the vertical
axis. The interval of numbers should be enough to
show the differences of data.

Step 3: Determine the data or values that will Step 3

placed on the horizontal axis. Make the space
even.

Step 4: Draw a bar to show the relationships of Step 4

the items on the horizontal axis with
corresponding frequencies.
Step 5: Write a title for the graph. Step 5

Example 2.

A survey conducted on how the students get to

school on a daily basis.

Construct a bar graphs to show the data.

Mode Boys
School bus 100
Personal car 50
Carpool 30
Public transpo 20
Walk 10

Step 1: Draw the two axes. Label each. Step 1

Step 2: Decide on a scale. Aninterval of 10 might Step 2

be good enough to present our data.

Step 3: Determine the data or values that will be Step 3

placed on the horizontal axis.
Step 4: Draw the bars. Step 4

Step 5: Write a title. Step 5

After we followed the stepsby using different

tools in constructing a bar graphs.

Did you understand what we discussed today?

Yes, Sir!
Is there any clarification?
None, Sir!
If theres is none, now we have helped Handy
Manny about his mission to build a building of
constructing bar graphs.

I think you have really understand the topic we

discussed today. So, I know that you will be able
to do my prepared tasks.

Abstraction:

If that’s the case,

1. Give the different parts of bar graphs? 1. Title, horizontal axis, vertical axis and label.

2. What is Bar Graphs? 2. It is useful when making direct visual

comparisons on a set of data.

3. In constructing bar graphs, what are the 3. The different steps to follow in constructing a
different steps to follow? bar graphs are;

Step1: Draw the two axes. Label each.

Step 2: Decide on a scale.
Step 3: Determine the data or values that will
be placed on the horizontal axis.
Step 4: Draw the bars.
Step 5: Write a title.
4. What are the two axes in bar graphs? 4. The horizontal and vertical axis.

5. Why the title is important in constructing a 5. The title of the graph is important because it
bar graphs? help us to know what the data presented is all
about.
Application:

I’m glad that you listen carefully in our discussion.

Now let’s test again your knowledge. We will
have a group activity.

I will group you into two groups. (The teacher will

divide the class into two groups)
Make a circle. (The teacher will assign their
designated place)

Each group will receive a envelope and a

marker. And this envelope contains the assigned
task for you to answer.

Group 1: Complete the table

A. Fifty students were asked their favorite fruit.

Write the correct number to represent each data
value.
1. 9
2. 17
3. 3
4. 4
5. 5
6. 7

Group 2: Draw the bars to represent the data

presented.

Values Integration:

In constructing bar graphs, we can relate it into

our daily lives. We can follow steps in knowing
what we desire, dreams and achievements to be
successful and rise. Also, we must now know the
failure we experience in life and the challenges
we have because it will help us to rise up.
Remember that no matter what happens do the
best version of yourself and be ready to accept
the rise and fall of it.
What can you say about the statement? (Student’s answer may vary)

Assessment:
Directions: Organize the data in a table.

Below are the responses of the 35 people when

asked for their favorite color.

Assignment:

Directions: Study the table and answer the

questions below.

1. How many students like sitaw? 1. 10

2. How many students like Brocolli? 2. 9
3. How many students like carrots? 3. 11
4. What kind of vegetable did the students like 4. Carrots
the most? 5. Eggplant
5. What kind of vegetable did the students like
the least?
