Dante s Argumentative Essay
For three years past, trade had been getting worse and worse, and the price of provisions
higher and higher. This disparity between the amount of the earnings of the working
classes and the price of their food, occasioned, in more cases than could well be imagined,
disease and death. Whole families went through a gradual starvation. They only wanted a
Dante to record their sufferings. And yet even his words would fall short of the awful
truth; they could only present an outline of the tremendous facts of the destitution that
surrounded thousands upon thousands in the terrible years 1839, 1840, and 1841. Even
philanthropists who had studied the subject, were forced to own themselves perplexed in
their endeavour to ascertain the real causes of the misery; the whole matter was of so
complicated a nature, that it became next to impossible to understand it thoroughly....

The indigence and sufferings of the operatives induced a suspicion in the minds of
many of them, that their legislators, their magistrates, their employers, and even the
ministers of religion, were, in general, their oppressors and enemies; and were in
league for their prostration and enthralment. The most deplorable and enduring evil that
arose out of the period of commercial depression to which I refer, was this feeling of
alienation between the different classes of society. It is so impossible to describe, or
even faintly to picture, the state of distress which prevailed in the town at that time, that I
will not attempt it; and yet I think again that surely, in a Christian land, it was not known
even so feebly as words could tell it, or the more happy and fortunate would have
thronged with their sympathy and their aid. In many instances the sufferers wept first,
and then they cursed. Their vindictive feelings exhibited themselves in rabid
Adhesive Capsulitis Research Paper
Low Level Laser Therapy on Adhesive Capsulitis Adhesive capsulitis is a problem
that therapeutic ultrasound, low level laser therapy, inferential current, TENS, and
pulsed electromagnetic field therapy have not been researched enough to see if it
works. This study was done to see if low level laser treatment and exercise improved
patients pain, functional impairment, and active shoulder abduction versus a placebo
and exercise. The study was set up by the Cochrane Library. They researched all the
recent articles on electrotherapy modalities on adhesive capsulitis and then formed their
study. It was a randomized control test, using clinical trials using a quasi randomized
method of allocation. There were nineteen trials and 1,249 participants and their
average age was fifty five, sixty one percent were women. Participants had adhesive
capsulitis for an average of 5.5 months, and the average duration of low laser treatment
was four weeks. No one was excluded from the study and the only criterion for the study
was that participants needed to have adhesive capsulitis.... Show more content on

The study also did a functional impairment test (the higher the score means the worse
functioning) the low laser therapy and exercise scored a 36 out of a 0 100 scale. The
placebo and exercise scored 48 out of 0 100 on the functional impairment test. The
study also tested the motion of active shoulder abduction; the low laser therapy and
exercise ranged at 79 degrees and placebo and exercise ranged at 70 degrees. There were
some imitations to the study; they had very low quality of

Edgar Degas And Da Vinci Compare And Contrast
Edgar Degas and Leonardo Da Vinci were the two prominent artisans in the history of
art. During these eras, Degas and Da Vinci gained enormous fame as a result of
masterpiece they produced. This essay compares and contrasts these two eminent artists.
There are several differences between Edgar Degas s paintings and Leonardo Da Vincis
paintings, which include the background, style, emotions and personalities.
The first difference between Edgar Degas s paintings and Leonardo Da Vinci s
paintings is background. Background means giving the painter s biography and their
famous works. Degas was born on July 19, 1834 in Paris, France. He displayed
exceptional skills for drawing and painting as a child, a talent inspired by his father(Edgar

Personality means the combination of characteristics that form an individual s
distinctive character.Degas was a private and systematic unmarried man. He dedicated
his life in art and preferred a solitary life and work alone in his studio. He was always
shy and was known to be a difficult person in friendships. Degas was a bad tempered
person to his friends. But to his nieces, nephews and some close friends he was
friendly and charming ( Edgar , 2013). He may be considered a racist as he was
reluctant to draw the black community when he travelled to the United States (Kay,
2012). Leonardo da Vinci was a man of strict moral character with respect to the divine
nature of humans and animals, a vegetarian and a lover of nature (Leonardo Da Vinci,
n.d.). He was strong and handsome;According to Vasari his personal beauty cannot be
amplified, his every movement was a grace itself. (as cited by Keele, 1985).His
delightful conversation won all hearts even though he worked little he kept servants
and horses of which he was fond of and trained them with much kindness and patience
(Keele, 1985).The personalities of the two artist are completely different and can be seen
as opposite of each other. Leonardo was a kind person yet wasn t an arrogant considering
his possession of vast knowledge. Degas was self centered, angry and was a difficult
person to be
The Earth And The Stars
Throughout the history of the human species people have looked up at the stars and
wondered. Each individual culture, past and present, has stories and myths concerning
the various features of the night sky and the constantly moving celestial objects which
reside there. There are creation stories which try to explain where the Earthand the
numerous stars came from. There are other stories whcih take on a less grand task and
only try to explain a single celestial object. Some believe that the stars and the Earth are
intertwined and the motions or strange appearances of objects directly relate to what is
happening on the Earth.
There are also beliefs that the stars and night sky are the Heavens viewable from Earth,
where everything must be perfect. If things were not perfect in the Heavens, such as a
new star appearing in the sky due to a supernova occurring light years away, some
cultures would take this as a bad omen. In ancient China for example, the Emperor was
responsible for what happened on Earth as well as what happened in the Heavens, so if
a new star appeared unannounced then a competing group vying for control could use
that change to try to alter the existing balance of power. In other places such as medieval
Europe even suggesting the Heavens were not perfect could land someone under arrested
from, at the time, all powerful Catholic Church. Such was the case with Galileo after his
public support of the idea that the Earth moved around the Sun and not the other
The New Colossus Analysis
This poem by Emma Lazarus is a beautiful call to freedom, welcoming immigrants
from all nations to America. The New Colossus was written in 1883 to raise funds for
the landmark. The words are engraved at the base of the Statue of Liberty and forever
will carry the message that defines the nation. The poem is beautifully written, full of
symbolism, alliteration and powerful imagery. It inspires hope and unity, where men
and women of all races and religions can live freely in a country and work together in
harmony. This wish has worked for many immigrants who came here legally and worked
hard to build an American Dream. America has always been known as the land of
opportunity and every year thousands of people migrate to the United States for various
reasons, including refugees from war torn and tyrannical countries. The poem has even
more significance now. In these tumultuous times, with the immigration policy in
disarray and thousands of protests across the country, this is an appropriate time to revisit
this poem and reaffirm our commitment to being the land of the free. The New Colossus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon hand
Glows world wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

Database Vs. Relational Database Model
One size fits all. The developers go to for all data. You need only a relational database.
This is the false assumption that you will see when it comes to database models. The
relational database model is great for data that normally can fit into a table, or shows
relationships between data, but not all data falls into that category. There are a few
options for these situations. You can use an object oriented database, a hierarchical
database, a network database, and a flat file database. The first alternative is known as
the object oriented. In a document oriented database model, each individual record, and
all of the data associated with that record, is thought of as a document. In this type of
database, everything that is related to a database object, or document, is grouped
together. This keeps the database organized, and easier to find things that are related to
each other. Each document is encoding data in some format or encoding. The most
common formats include XML, JSON and BSON. These are just some of the formats
available, but these seem to be the most popular formats that are being used.
A document can have single, or even multiple fields. These fields can vary from
document to document, which gives each document a lot of flexibility. There is no need
to worry about constraints, like we see in our relational database, but validation
documents can be made to enforce rules as needed. This type of database can typically
accept multiple languages, instead of just
