I. Trustworthiness:
A. Student’s class work/tests/quizzes/projects/essays must be his or her own work. A referral will be written for cheating.

II. Responsibility:
A. Study 15- 20 minutes each night.
B. Complete written homework each night
C. Complete work on time
1. Homework is not accepted after the date it is due and will be recorded as a zero
2. If you are absent it is THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to:
a. Look at the lesson plan on CANVAS to get the missed work/missed lesson
b. Complete the assignment and hand it in the next day for a one day absence.
(2day abs = 2days etc…); it is your responsibility to show me the work when you return.
c. Make-up a missing QUIZ/TEST at 8:30am SHARP on Wednesdays in Test Center (LPR); must be
made up within week of returning, otherwise, it will be a 30% deduction in grade and an
additional 10% every additional week after.
d. YOU MUST sign up on QUIZ/TEST MAKEUP SHEET BY TUESDAY before make up date. It is NOT
the teacher’s job to remind you!
e. Projects may be turned in late but they will receive an automatic 30% deduction in grade; Example: if you
receive a grade of 90%, a 63% will be recorded in Synergy.

D. Avail yourself of a free “Peer Tutor”.
E. Use the Bronco Center/Counseling office from 7a.m.-7:30a.m./lunch/after school! Just walk in-no app’t needed!

V. Citizenship:
A. Be on time. Profe Martín’s definition of on time is…BE IN THE ROOM BEFORE THE BELL RINGS. If you are not, you
will be marked tardy. Three tardies and you will serve a RESTORATIVE SESSION. Tardies will negatively impact grade.

What do I need for class?


A. 3 ring binder 1 ½ in or bigger
B. PAPER!!
C. Pens AND pencils

How do I organize my notebook of Español?


A. Outside cover: name/ ROOM N11/ period/ level of “Español” (tape/glue it to the outside if you have to)
B. Dividers labeled with Spanish words (NOT NUMBERED) tabs :
1. Saludos (warm-ups)
2. Apuntes (class notes)
3. Tarea (homework)
4. Churros (Vocab)
How will Profe grade?
The skills of: reading, writing, listening, and speaking are assessed via:
1. Participation – 5%
2. Homework – 15%
3. Quizzes – 15%
4. Tests – 25%
5. Projects – 15%
6. Final – 25%

SUCCESS IN SPANISH Parent letter

You have on-line access BUT NOT UNTIL YOU SET IT UP:
1. https://myplan.powayusd.com/ (My Plan Portal = One stop shop for grades (SYNERGY), GPA, schedule, announcements…)

You should see that your child:


1. studies the vocabulary cards or www.classzone.com EVERY NIGHT (10min daily)
2. re-reads the day’s class notes (2 min)
3. completes the daily homework (10 min)
4. uses on-line vocabulary card practice, practice quizzes, reading and listening activities to support learning
How do you know your child’s grade?
1. Check SYNERGY weekly for your child’s cumulative grade.
2. PLEASE ACCESS SYNERGY NOW! MAKE SURE THAT ALL THE CONTACT INFORMATION IS CURRENT
AND THAT YOU SET THE PUSH NOTIFICATIONS. THIS WILL NOT BE DONE AUTOMATICALLY.

4. Each parent knows his/her child best. If you feel that your child’s grade is not reflective of his/her potential please e-mail me.
How can you contact Profe. Martín?
1. First, let me say that I am very supportive of parent contact; however, at this point in a child’s career we want our RBHS
student to foster a strong teacher/student bond and learn to advocate for themself. A high school parent should first
encourage the student to e-mail the teacher. If the issue is not addressed or resolved feel free to e-mail me.

If your child is struggling in the learning process:

2. Obtain a FREE tutor as soon as possible in the Bronco Center in Counseling office: 485-4800 ext: 4535
3. Make sure that the daily work at home is being done in a social media-free/phone-free/TV-free environment.

5. Retain a professional Spanish tutor for one-on-one help.
