REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE

Young individuals who possess elevated levels of emotional intelligence have

demonstrated enhanced general health and mental wellness, highlighting the

significance of EI as a critical asset for mental health (Yildrim & Arslan, 2022). The research implies that
professionals in mental health can develop training and intervention strategies tailored specifically to
enhancing emotional intelligence (EI) among young adults, thus enabling them to effectively navigate
diverse facets of life. Conversely, findings from Weissman et al. (2020) indicate that diminished
emotional intelligence heightens the risk of encountering various mental health challenges, including
anxiety and depression. It implies that people with high emotional intelligence scores are more capable
of coping with environmental pressures than people with low emotional intelligence scores. On the
other hand. The study of Canero et al. (as cited in Guil et al., 2021) has shown that emotional
intelligence at high levels might be detrimental to well-being if appropriate levels of emotional
understanding and control do not follow it. The development of emotional intelligence abilities has a
major impact on students’ mental health in online learning groups.

It says that "Enhanced emotional intelligence is linked to better mental health outcomes”. Additionally,
Ordu et al. (2022) have identified a substantial correlation between the emotional intelligence
competencies of nurses and their mental well- being, elucidating how these competencies positively
influence psychological health. It is posited that emotional intelligence abilities play a pivotal role in
nurses' ability to transition to appropriate psychological states, adopt an optimistic outlook on life, and
experience happiness, thereby facilitating their capacity to manage challenges without succumbing to
feelings of hopelessness or losing self-control, particularly in stressful circumstances. The influence of
nurses' emotional intelligence on favorable mental health outcomes, as defined in this context as 'the
positive impact of feeling psychologically well,' underscores the importance of emotional intelligence in
promoting mental well-being among healthcare professionals”.
