Step 1 – Get Ideas

Frist week – To do list:
Watch the video with a native speaker who talks about social media. Then listen his
opinions, and check whether you agree or disagree.

Agree Disagree Opinions

X Social media is training us to compare our lives, instead of
appreciating everything we are. No wonder why everyone
is always depressed.
X I think people put the best of full-on social media, and it’s
not exactly representative completely how life is.

Step 2 – Expose your ideas

Second week – To do list:

Option 2: Participate in Student’s Talking Time -STT Workshops. You will get 15 points in Step
2 for your attendance and active participation.

Step 3 – Let’s talk about social media

Third week – To do list:

Watch the video by a native English speaker once again and use the feedback provided

by your tutor during the practice session or STT, to give structured answers during

your video recording.

3

Then, record a video in the forum in which you answer the following questions.

Remember to explain your response with details and examples.

• Do you believe we compare ourselves to others on social media? Yes/no, give

reasons to support your opinion.

I don't think so, because social networks were created for the communication of people in an

easier way despite the distance, I would think that they are used to criticize more than to

compare.

• Do you think the information displayed on social media inspires our actions?

Yes/no, give reasons to support your opinion.

Yes, I think so, because generally people are more aware of the message, photo or comment that

was published without thinking about whether the information is true or false.

• Can social media affect our mental health? Yes/no, give reasons to support your

opinion.

Yes, I think, because people are educating themselves more with what they publish socially on

networks, than what they teach in the education centers.
