(Approximately 50 words)

This section provides an opportunity for you

to explain how you will reflect on and evaluate
your work, as both an ongoing activity and at
the conclusion of the project.

You should describe how you intend to

record your decision-making and how you
will document changes to your ideas as the
project progresses. The evaluation section
should reference your stated aims and
be reflective and analytical rather than a
description of actions completed.

When working in collaboration with others,

you should comment on how this may impact
either positively or adversely and outline the
steps you can take to minimise disruption to
your own progress.

Project action plan and timetable:

This section provides you with an opportunity

to outline your planning and organisation
over a period of weeks and the activities you
will need to carry out in order to successfully
complete your project in the agreed time
frame. The more time and thought you give to
planning your project, the more successful it is
likely to be.

It is important that you consider how you will

balance ambition, time and realism in the
realisation of the project. You should also
include what you are going to do, how you
will do it and by when. Remember to include:
time spent sourcing materials and other
resources to conduct research, feedback from
tutors and peers, and when you will carry out
independent study.

Bibliography (Harvard Format):

This section provides an opportunity to record

the initial research sources, both primary and
secondary, that you intend to use.

Your sources of research should be as wide

as possible and could include libraries,
galleries, books, magazines, films, computer
games, websites, blogs, social media, radio
programmes, archive material etc. Where
appropriate, you should use the Harvard
system of referencing. The bibliography should
be continuously updated as the
project progresses.

Project Title
Final Major Project (Thorpe Park Rebrand)

Section 1: Rationale
(approx. 100 words)
Since starting the course, I’ve made significant progress. My work has
consistently improved, especially when comparing my earlier units to my
recent final outcomes on my Weebly site. I now have a deeper understanding
of design principles, colour theory, and logo design. I’ve also become
proficient in using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and
Express, along with other tools like ReadyMag, Cricut, and Canva. My
specialization lies in typography and creative design. Looking ahead, I aspire
to work as a Creative Director at Merlin Entertainments. To prepare for this,
I’ll focus on integrating my designs seamlessly into existing theme park
brands during this project, and organise my work well to fit within strict
deadlines.

Section 2: Project
Concept
For this project, I intend to create a map; app design and merchandise for
(approx. 200 words) Thorpe Park, which is a theme park owned by Merlin Entertainments. This is
needed, as the theme park has recently announced a new logo and complete
brand refresh with a new branding strategy to show they have entered a new
era. However, their app has not been updated with any significant changes
and continues to cause issues with an outdated design. Therefore, they need
a newly designed app. As well as this, the physical map would need updating
to match the app and highlight that they have changed, and new merchandise
would help to solidify the concept of the new brand to consumers. The target
market are theme park enthusiasts and Thorpe Park Visitors, as they would
engage with this content the most. I will make it using Adobe Illustrator,
Photoshop, InDesign and AfterEffects as well as using a printer and
prototyping apps like Marvel Prototyping. My final outcomes will be a new
(unofficial) Thorpe Park App design, A new physical (unofficial) Thorpe Park
Map, New (Unofficial) Thorpe Park Merchandise, as well as (unofficial) Thorpe
Park logo variants for each seasonal event of 2024, with relevant variants of
the app, map and merchandise for each seasonal event.

Unit 8 Project Proposal
Section 3: Evaluation
(approx. 50 words)
In my project, I’ll regularly reflect on my progress and gather peer feedback
to maintain high-quality work aligned with the target market’s needs. I’ll
distribute a survey to the target audience, receive teacher and peer feedback,
conduct a focus group, and engage in thorough self-reflection. This
multifaceted approach ensures reliable feedback and evaluates the project’s
success.
