KOM - Important Questions For INSEM

The document discusses kinematics of machinery and contains important questions on topics such as kinematic links, types of constrained motion, kinematic chains, inversions of single and double slider crank chains, Grashof's law, and degree of freedom. It also contains questions on instantaneous linear velocity, acceleration analysis methods, loop closure equations, and polar diagrams for single Hooke's joints.

mechanism
2. Explain complex number method of acceleration Analysis
3. Write Loop closure equation of Slider Crank Mechanism
4. Explain the working principal and application of Hook’s joint
5. Explain Polar diagram for single Hooke’s joint in detail.
6. In a slider crank mechanism, the crank is 200 mm long and connecting rod 800 mm long. Find
the velocity and acceleration of piston and angular velocity and angular acceleration of
connecting rod , when the crank has turned through 600 from inner dead center. The angular
velocity of the crank is 20 rad/sec. and is increasing at the rate of 10 rad/sec 2.Use approximate
Analytical method.
7. For an I.C. Engine mechanism, the crank radius is 90 mm and connecting rod length is 450
mm. The crank is rotating in clock wise direction with angular velocity of 15 rad/sec. and the
angular acceleration of 100 rad/sec2.Using complex number method, find the acceleration piston.
8. The stroke of steam engine is 15 cm and the connecting rod is 30 cm in
length. Determine the velocity and acceleration of the piston when the crank has made 45 0
measured from I.D.C. position and rotates at 600 r.p.m. Also determine the angular velocity and
angular acceleration of connecting rod.
