Experiment 4 Free Fall Motion
Experiment 4 Free Fall Motion
Experiment 4 Free Fall Motion
OBJECTIVES:
To determine the height of the ceiling without using a ruler/tape measure (others)
To determine the factors that affect the experimental and theoretical values of the
results of the experiment.
THEORY: Use the equation below to solve for the height of the physics laboratory ceiling
(theoretical value):
1 2
h=v i t+ g t
2
PROCEDURE:
1. Get the materials ready. Make sure to set the stopwatch to zero and tennis ball on hand.
2. Stand on a laboratory station and hold the tennis ball touching the ceiling.
3. Let go of the tennis ball and start your stopwatch at the same time. Make sure the drop is clear.
9. Measure the actual height using a meter stick or tape measure using SI unit (meter).
10. Interpret the percent error using the theoretical data (actual measurement of the ceiling) and
experimental data (measurement of the ceiling using equation).
