achieving the marks I had hoped for. Firstly, I did not read the questions carefully, which caused
some misinterpretations. I rushed through answering the questions, which led to me not
understanding them properly. Secondly, I lacked the necessary knowledge to answer certain
questions correctly. I realized that I was not paying enough attention during lectures or actively
participating in classroom discussions and activities. Lastly, my write-up was not orderly, and I
felt hurried while writing my responses. I noticed that I needed more practice writing answers in
a structured way to make them easier to read.
I identified some significant knowledge holes in my understanding of certain concepts. The more
comprehension subjects presented in the exam were my weak points. I require more time to
review them, clarify doubts, and seek additional resources to aid comprehension. I need to focus
on improving my understanding of the more challenging concepts to be better prepared for future
exams. In contrast, I performed well on the topics that were based on basic knowledge. I realize
that I need to engage more and strengthen my understanding of more complex concepts.
In the first half of the semester, I was successful in keeping up with my classwork, homework,
and readings. My participation in class was positive, and I contributed actively to the
discussions. I realized that discussing topics with my classmates helped me understand the
concepts better. In addition, I discovered that reading the course material in conjunction with
attending lectures and taking part in class discussions improved my ability to comprehend and
recall information.
I have always found talking to others about the subjects we are studying helpful, and it
contributes a lot to my learning. I plan to concentrate more on practicing and revising my
understanding of the concepts from the first part of the semester that I struggled with. I intend to
use study groups or pair work to discuss difficult concepts and to pinpoint areas that require
more practice. I plan to read the course materials, lecture summaries, and important topics
frequently, especially just before an exam. This will help in long-term memory preservation of
the material.
Moreover, I plan to work on my weaknesses, especially my lack of knowledge in certain areas. I
will seek additional resources, use extra study materials, for instance, textbooks, YouTube
videos, and online quizzes to aid understanding. I intend to identify the significant topics that
contribute towards the exam and focus on mastering them before assessing my grasp on the
smaller topics. I will also concentrate on the structure of my approach when answering questions.
Knowing to compose my essay clearly and logically will help my examiner and, ultimately,
receive better marks.
In conclusion, my reflections on my midterm have enabled me to identify my strengths and
weaknesses, and I plan to address them in the second half of the semester to better prepare for
upcoming exams. I will utilize different strategies to ensure that I remain up-to-date with my
studies, by focusing on the topics that I require improvements, seeking additional help as
necessary to address my weaknesses. With such a plan, I am confident that I will be able to meet
the expectations during examinations in the second half of the semester, gain a deeper
understanding of the course material, and boost my overall academic performance.
I think a way for me to improve in class is for Ms. Dora to host more learning activities for
example the cookie activity. I found out that these activity actively help me to understand the
concepts. Another idea is to have small group learning, to explain the class to classmates. From
Ms. Dora’s advice, I have found out that trying to teach others is boosting my understanding of
the subject itself. This is how I wish the clas to improve.
