TURTLENECK
Pattern pieces
Front – cut 1 on fold
Back – cut 1 on fold
Sleeve – cut 1 pair
Turtleneck collar - cut 1 on fold
Sewing level for this pattern: suitable for all sewing levels.
We recommend you test out the stretch in your chosen knit by quickly
cutting out the turtleneck collar and sewing it up to try on over your
head. It’s also a good idea to keep some extra fabric, just in case you
need to recut the turtleneck collar if needing more width.
If your turtleneck is too small or too tight to fit over your head,
widen the circumference of the neckline so that you can easily pull the
turtleneck collar over the head. To do this, trim back neckline edge on
front and back by ¼" all around and add 1" on the fold (in total 2"
added) to turtleneck collar.

Please read instructions thoroughly before cutting and sewing.
Step 1 - Join shoulders: Pin front and back shoulders with right sides
together. Overlock seams together taking 3/8" seam.
Step 2 - Attach sleeves: With right sides together, pin sleeve head
around armhole edge. Overlock seams together taking 3/8" seam.
Step 3 - Join side seam of top and sleeve together: With right sides
facing and matching up the underam seams, pin front and back together
at the side seams and sleeve seams.
Overlock seams together taking 3/8" seam. Press seam towards back.

Step 4 - Prepare turtleneck collar: With right sides facing, pin
together ends of turtleneck collar. Sew ½" seam allowance and press
seam open.
With wrong side and neckline edges together, fold the turtleneck collar
in half lengthways. Make sure to line up the centre front and shoulder
notches together as well as matching up the centre back seam together.
Pin together at these points.
Step 5 - Attach turtleneck collar to neckline: Turn top inside out and
pin neckline edge of turtleneck collar inside the neckline of top,
matching up centre front/back and shoulder notches to corresponding
points on neckline of top. The centre back seam of the collar lines up
with the centre back notch. Ease turtleneck collar in between these
points and overlock together taking 3/8" seam. Tip: Overlock around
neckline with turtleneck collar facing you and note that you will have
three layers (two from the turtleneck collar edge and one from the
neckline edge).

Step 6 - Hem top and sleeve: Overlock raw edge of top and sleeve hem.
Turn back sleeve and top hem 1" towards wrong side and pin in place on
right side.
Using a 2.75mm stretch twin-needle, sew around hem of top and sleeves.
Make sure to sew with right side of garment facing up and sewing 1" in
from edge to ensure that you are catching top of overlocked hem edge.
